Portable wine decanter
I was looking at getting this
http://www.homewetbar.com/final-touc...ter-p-464.html mainly so I can bring it on the plane and have the FAs use it and try to get some taste from some of their wines. I used decanters before and I do enjoy them, but this is a tad different. Any thoughts? |
It looks overpriced to me. Are wines going to taste good enough in flight to be worth the bother?
However, this my be a giftie idea for my sweetie. Thank you! |
No airline will allow you to put that on a bottle inflight. That breaks a lot of rules (and for good reason). So buying it to use inflight is simply not viable.
As for effectiveness, it cannot possibly work. The aeration from the bottle to the glass is greater than what this "decanter" does, so it is at best a gimmick. More like a style item. |
I suppose there is increased surface area and hence more contact with oxygen while the wine is being poured through the bulb, but since the wine is constantly being poured and in movement, the effects are probably insignificant.

Why not ask for a second glass?
Have them pour into the first glass, pretend that's a decanter, then pour that into the other glass? Way less expensive, that's free. Of course, if you just waited a bit to kick it back..... |
Oh well.
Just trying to make those wines that UA serves a bit better. |
