Dom Perignon 1998, or 1995 Rosé?

Vote! :D

1998 Dom. :D

Depends on what it's for, but in most cases it would not be the rose for me

Humshee Oct 2, 2006 9:04 pm

It's a hard one

Again, depends on the event ... but the '98 (if the '96 isn't on offer)

The '95 Rose, however is one of the finest Rose's made.

But my vote, the '98!

The '95 rose is very nice indeed!

I am a Rose fan so I go with Rose but 96 Dom is the goods!

Mumm 96 Rose is also a mighty fine drop!

Hairpeace,
What's the occasion (congrats anyway!), and why not have both? ;)

Another vote for 1996 Dom!
(y'all are welcome to 'Buy BEY a Belgian Beer' - or a Dom if you prefer...see below!)

Definitely not. Hubby and I agree, Rose all the way.

same here, so 1998, but I have never been that thrilled with Dom.

Depends - I think with a meal, I'd vote rose.

I jokingly mentioned this thread to a friend of mine. As she was getting me a birthday present at the time, she went out and got a bottle of 1995 Rose for me. Isn't this stuff like two or three hundred a bottle? I guess I have no choice but to find her a birthday present of equal(or higher) value next month.... :)

While I can't wait to break open the bottle, I'd rather keep it for a couple of years. Any advice on the best way to store it? (please don't tell me to build a wine cellar in my basement.... :) )

Thanks for any suggestions!

Keep it on its side in a cool dry environment. Make sure you keep the cork wet and do not keep it in a humid environment as mould will grow on the cork. Also do not put in the fridge unless you plan to drink the champagne within 2 weeks.

Disclosure: I worked for Perrier Juoet, Mumm and Nicolas Feuillatte. As well as drinking plenty of the good stuff I did learn a little :D
