Flavored Coffee and Tea
I must admit, while I'm a traditionalist, lately I've been trying more and more flavored coffee beans (not coffee + syrup, but beans that have been flavored in the roasting or production process) and starting to like it. Right now, I'm sitting here drinking a banana latte, which is just devine.
My fiancee, who was once a "Earl Grey only" tea drinker, is also starting to drink more of the new fandangled teas, with fruity flavors. So I'd be interested to hear in other positive or negative responses. As I've posted in threads before, I'm a huge fan of Boaters flavored coffee from the UK, and would live and die by their Tiramisu coffee. |
You really need to hear Dennis Leary's rants about coffee flavored coffee. Generally, I find that the people who really like coffee the least are those that add flavors to it. The hardcore fans are usually black or just milk.
As for flavored teas, I really don't like berry teas. If I wanted something fruity, I would have juice. To each their own though. I don't even have milk or sugar in tea. I want the tea taste. |
I love coffee and despise any flavored coffees.
A place where I worked years ago, there was a group who would poison the coffee apparatus with perfumed coffee. There was one hardcore engineer who would go to Peets for a bag of french roast, meticulously clean the pots and coffeemaker and then call the real coffee fans one at a time, whispering "coffee" in our ears.I'd come a runnin' no matter the time of day or night. Give it to me dark, smoky and black. Tea is a different story and I prefer Constant Comment. <shrug> |

"'No, that’s the flavor of the month, man. That’s, uh, maple nut crunch.' "Maple nut crunch, okay? Maple nut f*****g crunch.... Are you gonna tell me that Juan Valdez is down in Bogota right now fielding a field full of maple nuts?? I don’t f*****g think so! In fact, I’m willing to bet my left maple nut that he’s NOT! :D |

Constant Comment tea ranks right up there with eating beets [see food thread]. I can take most other teas (sans milk) except "chai" - always declined when offered. |
The only coffee I buy for home any more is the hazelnut-flavored 8 o'clock brand. Not TOO flavored, just enough to give it a nice aroma. And the price is right. Years ago Consumer Reports rated 8 o'clock coffee the best of the store brands and that's been good enough for me ever since.
I have no patience for "real coffee is black coffee" snobbery. Fine for them if it makes them happy, but they've got no more chance of converting me than a Jehovah's Witness ringing the doorbell during my all-time favorite movie. My firm opinion (but then, I'm Irish) of both coffee and tea is that if God had wanted us to drink them without cream and sugar, He would have made them taste better in the first place. |

I drink both coffee and tea. I'm more of a coffee traditionalist myself, so haven't tried flavoured coffees or 'frappacinos' - whatever they are. I don't think I'll ever be inclined to try a flavoured coffee. But I enjoy different varieties of tea.
My favourite tea is Earl Grey, which I drink daily, and Darjeeling, which I drink when I eat scones. Although today I didn't have any Darjeeling so had to have Earl Grey with my two scones, cream and strawberry jam. I felt really guilty scoffing two whole scones - fat approx 33g - so had to go to the gym this evening to burn off those extra calories. I drink a lot of fruit infusion teas as well, usually before I go to bed, as these are caffeine-free. Some of my favourites include Blackcurrant & Apple, Orange, Peach & Mango, Strawberry, Blackcurrant, Ginseng & Vanilla. |
I'm a tea person, and I love the base flavor of teas from
around the world. I'm not a caffein addict, and I dont miss the caffein and I can skip a day or few, but I dont pass on any opportunities to have some tea. I like them black/green and plain. I also like some flavored black teas, but a very few Tisanes. In flavors, I prefer Orange spice (along that line) or Chai Spice. I generally shop from www.uptontea.com or pick up some of the Whittard teas from UK Or some of the Green, black and white teas from China or Taiwan. Coffee, I'd prefer the thick, muddy greek/arabic/turkish/lebanese coffee if its made right. I keep the milk out of my beverages. |
I drink both coffee and tea, and dislike unusual flavorings in either. The "fruits" always seem to taste like chemicals and I have quit trying any non traditional hot beverages.
