Loved Blanche de Chambly beer

Visited QC and tried Blanche de Chambly beer - a white beer that is partially unfiltered so it's cloudy.

Very tasty! ^

I've only tried Unibroue products on the west coast, and all 3 that I've tried have been disappointing ... not bad, but not great. Maybe they don't travel well (since it seems east coast people rave about them -- but all the great US beers are on the west coast, so the competition is a bit stiffer here).

Of course it couldn't be sold as beer in Germany (Unibroue adds spices and aromatics to get their special flavour).

Don't think travel is the issue. I had Maudite on tap here in Chicago and it was nigh undrinkable. Stick to the Belgians.

Well, Unibroue's Belgian-style beers don't make any attempt to follow the Reinheitsgebot, any more than the Belgians themselves do. (Actually, you could sell them in Germany, you'd just get in trouble if you tried to brew them in Bavaria.)

And if you want a little trivia; Unibroue's maitre brasseur (French for brewmaster) Paul Arnott -- is a Scot.
