Long Island
Looking for some suggestions, y'all.
Will be out on Long Island next week. Will be staying in Riverhead (where the north and south fork meet). I'm looking for a good seafood restaurant, preferably one where I may partake in some good, raw oysters before dinner (but not mandatory). Willing to drive a bit if need be. Thanks in advance, everyone. |

No offense, but I don't recall ever stating this was a leisure trip of some sort.
 Okay, let me amend seeing as how that may get a better or more focused response: I will be out on Long Island on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday morning of next week. I have some business to see to. I will be staying in Riverhead on Wednesday night. Looking for a good seafood place to eat. Willing to drive a bit... out of Riverhead if need be. Prefer a place where I can partake in some raw oysters before dinner, but not mandatory. nytango, YOu seem familiar with the area... any good, local joint on one of the forks? There's gotta be some out there. |

I would recommend the H20 Seafood Grill in Smithtown. Nice environment and great seafood. http://www.h2oseafoodgrill.com/ I eat there several times a year.

Starr Boggs in Westhampton Beach is excellent, as is Tierra Mar (the latter is right on the ocean).

Having grown-up way out East on L.I. one of my favorite places is the Soundview Restaurant in Greenport. It has the most spectacular view, jetting out over the water. Check out their Web site at: www.soundviewrestaurant.com for directions and the menu. I have not been in ages but your question had me waxing nostalgic :-).
The food is good, traditional, seafood and pasta...the view is extraordinary. |
Wow, thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'll let you know which I choose and post a quick report.

Update on lat night's dinner...
Went to a China Buffet :embarrassed: In my defense, I was tired, it was bitter cold and windy, and I had already spent $40 of the company's $$$ on a dinner for myself last night (which I felt a bit guilty for). I just wanted to get and out and go abck to the room. So, I decided to take it easy and hit the buffet. Thanks for all the suggestions, everyone. Next time on the Island (this summer), I'll archive the thread and try one of 'em. |
