The only time I buy bottled water is when I'm on the road where it's hard to find tap water. Although, I do have to admit that the Lake Cherokee (east Texas) "tap water" was pretty nasty. It was sucked up out of the lake and filtered, but it still had some color to it and retained an odor of mud. My grandmother bought bottled water and solved that problem.

The best, NYC, anywhere upstate NY, anywhere Colorado (except Glenwood Springs, a little too much sulfur); New Orleans always tasted like mud, CA (southern) like minerals; all time best is Glacier NP. (Why buy water when U.S. water is so tested and pure, unless you live where the taste is odd?)

I'm a Dannon fan, esp. when it's available for $0.25/bottle from WalGreens or other retailers.

My understanding is that Aquafina and Dasani are both filtered tap water, and I refuse to pay for either unless tap is not reliable or available and there is no spring water option. My best guess is that Pepsi and Coke (sellers of Aquafina and Dasani) are behind the efforts to frame the market as a "bottled water" market, so that the fact that their products are not spring water is not immediately obvious or differentiated.

Call me cheap but I refuse to pay more for water than i do for gas

I like Aquafina, or Kirkland, or my Colorado tap water. :)

For a change, I drink Propel. Only 20 calories, and a lot of taste.

Mt Franklin is a personal favourite, just for the availability.

Smart Water and Volvic. First time I tried Fiji, I thought it was great; perhaps because I was in Hollywood, CA at the time. Subsequent bottles (including yesterday) have not been as fulfilling. Volvic stands the test of time. I have picked it out of blindfold taste tests. Interestingly, tap was second over two other bottled waters.

I do not like sparkling water. Make mine sin gas.

Sparkling: San Pellegrino (with pasta, red meat), Badoit (with fish, lighter meats)

Still: Thonon, Cristalp, Volvic. Evian tastes (chemically speaking) basic to me :td:

In Singapore try Newater. The govt subscribes to it and bottles it as well. Dont ask me the source though :D ...hint - no its not Malaysia.

Water

Penta water is the best, Arrowhead the worst. Tastes like dirt.

Dasani and Aquafina are both awful.

I'm usually fine with tap water in any first world country.

MarshalN Dec 10, 2005 12:11 am

Favourite: Iceland Springs (you guys have to try this, available in Whole Foods in the US), Vittel, and sometimes Spa.

Least Favourite: Aquafina/Dasani (glorified tap water), Evian (tastes bad), Poland Springs (taste like tap water).

To those who think water all taste the same... I'd suggest pairing tap water, Iceland Springs (or any super low mineral content ones, like Spa) and then a heavy water like Vittel or Evian... you'll find the difference is huge if you drink them back to back.
