Best Restaurants within proximity to LGA & JFK
Greetings FT dining experts
Was wondering where you all might suggest for a great meal other then Figs when trying to dine at or near LGA (my first priority) or JFK Is there a great place for burger nearby? A killer pizza....... Great Italian food and so on.........Let me know if there are any hidden treasures in those surrounding airport hills :) Thanks for the feedback if any |
If you want a neighborhood near LGA, you will find some of the best Greek restaurants in Astoria.
Zermstammiche (sp), a great German restaurant, is in Glendale which is closer to JFK than it is to Manhattan! :D |
In my experience LGA definitely has more options close-by, compared to JFK. Kennedy is not in the nicest area, so your options can be limited. A few good places near LaGuardia: (A cab to Astoria will cost you between $5-$7 usually. To Flushing is a litlte more.)
-J.J.'s Fusion Kitchen & Sushi Bar in Astoria - Not your usual hood sushi joint. The owners are an Indonesian/New Zealander woman and her husband from Shanghai. The food is Japanese fused with elements from the tropics. Good stuff. -Thirty One in Astoria - Italian place with great thin-crusted pizza. A great place to take food to go or eat-in, depending on how much time you have. -Philoxenia in Astoria - Obviously Greek, but also foods from all around the Aegean coast. I like the feta-stuffed squid. -Malagueta in Astoria - Great little Brazilian place. attracts a mostly Brazilian crowd so you know it's authentic. Beware: the food is spicy. -Cup Diner & Bar in Astoria - A diner that's not really a diner. (Decorated like vintage diner but serves small plates & microbrew beers.) I believe it's open all night. -Szechuan Gourmet in Flushing - Great Chinese place that is nothing like the usual cheesy Americanized Chinese joints along this area. |

But not entirely correct with regard to JFK probably more options than near LGA,,, Its very close to Howard Beach, and many Pizza and Italian Chinese, and other restaurants and even closer on Lefferts Blvd right across Belt Pkwy, is Don Pepe, been there forever for great family style italian,,,, |
