We'll be going to NYC sometime next month for our weekend trip, thinking about nice dinner and maybe broadway show after that. Any suggestion on that?
Thanks |

Go the NYC forum and look up both dinner and broadway separately. You'll have a lot of info at your disposal.

There are lots of places to look on the web for good suggestions. For food, I'd check out the NY section of www.chowhound.com. There are so many places I love for a pre-theater dinner... Firebird which is beautiful and has Russian food.. Vice Versa - very innovative Italian.. the list is endless. You can look at www.broadwaybox.com for special theater deals or www.playbill.com. I miss NY!!

1. Dinner at Cafe Gray in the Time Warner Center - the former Lespinaise chef's innovative cuisine in an elegant/casual atmosphere; http://cafegray.com - then a short stroll to: 2. "The Light in the Piazza" at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre (Lincoln Center) - a sophisticated, inspiring musical score by Adam Guettel (Richard Rodgers's grandson), and Victoria Clark's Tony Award winning lead actress performance http://www.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumn.cfm?colid=3024 Can I go with you? :D |

Many years ago, I worked at a restaurant (here in the US) that maintained dinner hours 5p-1a Fri & Sat and 11p every other night.
Now? The kitchen closes at 10p on Fri & Sat and 9p every other night. Plenty of restaurants in the USA (in my experience) are keeping shorter hours than they were 20-30 years ago. :( Good news is that NYC still features late dining. :) |

Good pre-theater dinner is at DB Bistro Moderne on 44th between 5th-6th or 6th-7th. It's across from the Royalton Hotel, next door to the Algonquin. It is run by Daniel Bouloud. Impeccable service, excellent food, and a bit less formal than Restaurant Daniel, his flagship -- so, perfet for pre-theater.

I find the same to be fashionable in Buenos Aires. Show up for dinner between 9-12. Restaurants were still PACKED at 130.

We love pre- or post-theater steak dinners at Del Frisco's on Avenue of the Americas just south of Rockefeller Center and a block east of Broadway.
