What fun!
 

My fav way of making it:

Solid white tuna
mayo
red onion chopped up
celery chopped up
about a tablespoon of red wine vinegar
salt & pepper
dash of mustard
Toasted bread with tomatoe and lettuce


Sometimes I like to use Miracle Whip which my other half refers to as "white trash tuna" No offense to anyone, just a inside joke

I'd take mayo over mustard anyday. :) Never squirt any mustard on my Tuna

Try adding chopped olives to your tuna mix.

Actually adding chop carrots to my Tuna would not be a bad compliment to the sandwich.

Welcome to FT Travlynn. I have had tuna with chopped olives at the Venice airport. Really good.

fave tuna recipe happens at home--

white albacore (drained) hellman's mayo (NOT miracle whip) and chopped celery, served on toasted bread with lettuce.

due to mercury content, i've been using the light tuna lately...but it's not as good.

if you don't have celery, you can try what mr kk calls hippie tuna:

can o' tuna
mayo
chopped pecans
about 1/4 apple, chopped.

hey, while we're at it--do you like your tuna well flaked/mushed or still with recognizable chunks in it? put me firmly in the flaked/mushed camp.

I would tend to be in the flaked/mushed camp if we are discussing canned tuna on a sandwich.

...on second thought, that last statement probably does not belong in a thread pertaining to food...

Pickled Onion in Hamilton, BDA has a FANTASTIC tuna sandwhich with a side of chutney. Highly recommended, but pricey.

Neiman Marcus Fresh Market in Beverly Hills does a tuna sandwich on marble rye (remember the Seinfeld episode about marble rye?)_ Also served with mango chutney on the side. I tried this at home. Just not the same :confused: Then again, I firmly believe that restaurant tuna sandwiches taste better than at-home tuna sandwiches. I also believe that homemade BLT's taste better than restaurant BLT's. That is tonight's holiday weekend editorial ;) To all: have a safe and sane Fourth of July ^

What? If someone opens a can of tuna, slathers on some olive oil or chutney on a slice of marble rye, adds a slice of red onion or tomato does this a salad make? A tuna salad, is a mixed salad with the addition of tuna...Or, it could be a Salad Nicoise That is an entirely different subject...I have serious thoughts about the perfect Salad Nicoise :)

Perhaps I shouldn't have said "everyone." What YOU have described IS a tuna sandwich. IMO, when you mix it with mayo or Miracle Whip (especially), it is tuna salad . :)
