Ways to save money on trips

Well someone was asking about ways to save money when traveling and at first I thought I don't have any tricks, but then I started to think about it and realized I actually do and thought I would share a few.

First off, you can go to www.restaurant.com and look up the area you will be traveling to for gift certificates at half off and more. Also, if you subscribe, they frequently send out via email 1/2 price coupon codes. My last purchase was for a $25.00 gift certificate that cost me a whopping $5.00! Haven't used it yet, but one of these days I will!

Take advantage of local deals if you can.

The parks and rec here offer bus trips to Red Sox games (never been yet- but someday!) that cost less than a ticket usually.

Also, our local community college has a twice a year trip to Montreal that hasn't gone up in price for two years. For $60.00, you get 4 days 3 nites in a 4 star hotel, coach bus trip and breakfast buffet. Students have first preference, but after a certain date, anyone can book this trip for the same fare. Heck the breakfast alone is worth more than that!

There are several local books like the Entertainment series. These are put out by different community agancies and almost always are full of two for one on attractions and dining!

Also there are many coupon sites specific to certan areas, you just have to find them. I did score 2 for 1 drinks at Hard Rock Cafe, but gave them to the kids who were out to have a good time. Also found some great entertainment coupons as well.

I like to shop in consignment stores and thrift shoppes as well so I always try to locate some before I leave.

Also, think Smithsonian! Free museums are a good thing!! At the tourist kiosks, many of the brochures for attractions and area maps also include coupons & 2 for 1 so they may be worth a look.

I think as far as the airfare and hotel deals, most of you could teach me a thing or two!

Feel free to add to this list!
