Lima, Peru any must eats?
 

I'll be in Lima for a 5 days end of May into June. I'll be staying at the Sheraton and don't know my way around. I welcome any food, nightlife, or attraction info.

If you're alone, this may not help, but my wife and I really enjoyed an evening at La Rosa Nautica. It's on a pier, and the water is floodlit at night. It's rumored to be authentic Peruvian cuisine, but we were only there for two days, so I cannot vouch for that. The lomo saltado I had was quite good. We also ate at a place called Norky's (I think there are multiple locations) on the pedestrian mall not too far from the Sheraton. It was full of families, and had chicken and fries. Note, a half chicken was way more than I could eat alone; go for the quarter.

2 suggestions:

Manos morenas in Barranco. Pretty good food complemented with evening entertainment highlighting the various traditional dances of Peru. I thought it was kind of touristy but still good for a first-time visitor.

Punta Sal in Miraflores not too far from Lovers Park - excellent cebiche overlooking the ocean. Very reasonable prices.

I second that choice, as well.

There was an excellent seafood buffet we visited a couple years ago - though the name currently eludes me. I will try to dig it up. It wasn't anywhere near the ocean, but it was spectacular.

A good Peruvian friend just returned from Lima. I'll see what he has to say.

Costa Verde, also overlooking the Pacific, a restaurant at lunch and a disco at night, serves the most extraordinary buffet, emphasizing high quality sea food of all sorts. There is a magnificent patio. When I used to travel to Lima regularly, my colleagues and I would reserve one afternoon of our business trip for a late lunch since we would eat and drink enough that there was no way we'd be going back to work afterwards. I'm still looking for an excuse to go back to Lima just for Costa Verde.

Here are the suggestions I received:

Ambrosia at the Miraflores Park Hotel, upscale French cuisine

For tipical Peruvian food, San Antonio in San Isidro

For Chinese food, Restaurant Royal in San Isidro

I agree with above post. Costa Verde has the best lunch buffet, it has every possible Peruvian dish ( freshly made) and it has Cebiche,made to order.
It's expensive, but worth it.
P.S. It over looks the ocean.

Mmmm.... anticuchos.... (brochettes made with veal hearts, sound yucky but they're really delicious)... papas a la huancaina (potatoes in a cheese sauce)... and of course the ceviche, but only have it at a reputable place. Now I'm hungry !

I understand there are places you can chose your meal while still on the hoof, so to speak.
