Best Lobster Tail Value
 

At the Asian restaurant at the Palms Casino in Las Vegas, you can get a lobster tail the size of a bus for $34. None of that "market price" stuff. No crayfish. Are there other lobster tail deals out there?

When we were in Honolulu, dining at Nick's Fishmarket with buy one get one free entree, my husband negotiated a five-lobster tail entree for $59. and my dinner was free. Not a bad deal at all IMHO

Probably the best value is at a lobster pound in Maine. :cool:

Every Thursday, there is a restaurant in Stamford, CT where roast lobsters and garlic mashed is $14. Even if you toss out the claws and the rest and just eat the tail, it's a very good deal.

My favorite lobster tip - ask for a shot of Myers to put in the butter before dunking the meat in.

Usually lobster is overpriced at those places because they get the tourists in. The $12 to $15 lobster nights at NYC restuarants is usually a better deal.

I haven't been in a while but Lundy's clambake for around $25 or so is an incredible three course deal.

Not many tourists in early January. They were plentiful this past weekend. :D

I agree that any lobster place in Maine is great.We normally are there in March so beat most of the tourists.Prices are usually very good and the lobster is sweet.

See the problem is that I don't want to work that hard - I just want two smaller tails and some butter. This whole taking the lobster apart thing just makes it too annoying.

agree even if one goes at height of tourist season and a big plus is the lobster is FRESH straight from the water which makes a big difference.

Also I personally don't care if I could get a 2lb lobster tail for $10, IF repeat IF it is warm water lobster as warm water just is not good imo, it doesn't hold a candle to cold water.

On a side note, on the big Island they have Kona lobsters which are Maine lobster fry shipped to the big island and raised w/COLD seawater pumped from the deep, quite delicious but not as good as a Maine lobster.

As far as lobster deals in Chicago area, Supreme Lobster in Villa Park has a website with a 10% coupon off of stuff one can buy in their store on North Ave. Pappadeaux has Thursday lobster nights for a decent price, I don't recall offhand what it is.

Sweet Willie, I would think Bob Chin's would have some kind of lobster special every now and then.

I haven't been to Chicago in a little over a year. But every time we've been in the last few years, we usually end up at Bob Chin's for dinner at least once. And I've never seen crab legs and lobster (tails, whole, whatever) as huge as the ones they sell -- and I've eaten lobster in Maine, and crab legs in Alaska. Pound-for-pound, Chin's prices are pretty reasonable.

(Yeah, I know some folks would :rolleyes: at the mention of Bob Chin's ... I've heard it compared to Red Lobster. I would have to disagree. Chin's is something of a tourist trap, true, but we've never had a bad meal there.)

Yep, thanks for mentioning it, although I don't believe I've ever had lobster at Chin's, I've always viewed it as more of a crab place. The past few times I've been, I've had the simply prepared grilled Artic Char, some of the tastiest fish I've had.

In my opinion bigger is not necessarily better when it comes to lobster -- the really big ones (2.5 lb+) are often very tough and gummy. But I don't really understand eating just lobster tails either -- I like the meat in the body the best. Perhaps this is because I grew up in New England. We can get lobsters just about anytime we want for around $8/pound at any supermarket....and if you're squeamish, you don't even have to kill them yourselves, as many places will steam them for you. (I generally do the deed myself...)

1.The Stardust in Las Vegas offers a steak & lobster meal for less than $10 after coupon (found in virtually any tourist magazine). Oversized portions of bread, soup/salad, baked potato and vegetables/fries included. Quality ranges from good to very good.

2.Fitzgerald’s Reno had a lobster tail & filet mignon special for about $20 the last time I was there. Standard portions of bread, salad, baked potatoe & vegetables included. Decent formal setting. Quality was between very good and excellent.

3.You can order as many half-pound dishes of Slipper tails for $5 at Eldorado’s buffet in Reno as you want in Reno, but you have you to purchase one dinner buffet. Surprisingly, the quality (of both the lobster and the buffet!) is very good. Dinner’s about $12 on weeknights, and discount coupons are abundant.

I'll be in HNL on the 26th and will likely be headed to Nick's for dinner. Was the buy one - get one coupon you had the entertainment card? I thought there was a limit of around $29 on that.

Maybe I'll call Nick's and ask in advance if they would do this deal for me. That seems too good to pass up.
