Wonderful restaurant in Rome
Just returned from Rome and wanted to pass along a restaurant recommendation. It is Ristorante Giovanni and is located on Via Marche, 64. It's one block from the Via Veneto, around the corner from the Westin Excelsior (beautiful rooms, by the way). The owner's name is Franco and they have been in business since 1933 (his father Giovanni started it). Great food, great service, comfortable atmosphere and the special attention they gave us the first time made us go back again for our last night in Italy. Also, in comparison to many of the restaurants we ate in over the 2 weeks we were in Italy, the prices were quite reasonable. The lamb and veal were outstanding as well as the steamed clams appetizer (vongole). Also terrific was the sauteed greens (chicoria) which some of us had as an appetizer. We were 7 people and noone was disappointed with their meal. It's worth going there just for the bread. It was so good, they actually gave us a loaf to take home, and we are still enjoying it now.
