Seattle Steakhouses
I had an argument the other day over what is Seattle's best steakhouse.
Any suggestions? Thanks |
Used to be the Metropolitan Grill hands down but they have gone downhill. Some people like El Gaucho, but I have found the service to be indifferent from the top down.
Our favorite is the Daniel's Broiler Bellevue location. They have a nice view and the super-hot oven to sear the steaks. The Maytag Blue Cheese sauce is yummy and the service has always been great. QL |
Depends what you mean by "best".
If you mean pay a lot of money for an OK steak, Daniels, Ruths Chris or El Gaucho are tough to beat. I've had a very bad experience at both Daniels and Ruths Chris and don't remember much except the bill about El Gaucho. If you want the maximum poundage for the dollar, then you just can't beat The Keg. (relax, it's a joke) I thought Fleming's had just about the best meat in town in a nice atmosphere and at a pretty decent price. Evidently nobody agreed with me, though. The other standbys like The Met, Brooklyn, and Union Square Grill have never inspired me terribly. All good, but not worth dicking with parking for. Since I've moved away, though, there is only one place I look forward to going back to...Buenos Aires Grill. That is some very, very good meat. Especially when it's what...$20 all you can eat? On the other hand, you can see what the bridge-and-tunnel crowd think here: http://seattle.citysearch.com/bestof...c-results_49_1 and what the talking hairdos think here: http://www.kirotv.com/restaurants/2036649/detail.html and what the papers think here: http://www.nwsource.com/restaurants/...es_031104.html and what some random ......s think here: http://www.10best.com/Seattle/Restaurants/Steakhouses/ Needless to say, I don't agree with any of them. |
We live in Seattle and love to eat meat.....
Some of the best steak we have had recently is at Spencers.... this is the steakhouse at the SeaTac Hilton. When ever we have an early morning flight we always look forward to staying over at an airport hotel and having dinner at Spencers....the sides as well are much better that the Met. |

The only time I had a steak at Spencer's was about a year ago...and I was not impressed with the steak at all, although the service was good. I'm with AlanW...the Baseball Sirloin at the Keg can't be beat for the money...and knowing the manager gets the corkage fee waived, which means I bring my own vino...and share with said manager.

Imho
Palisade's at the Elliot Bay Marina has the best steak in town. It's hidden, but worth it. Not as pricey at Ruth Chris, Met, or El Gaucho either.

Melrose Grill in Renton
is worth a visit. Been there twice and never disappointed. Relatively inexpensive and the steaks come with salad and the trimmings included. The concierge card stand usually has it and you can get a 10% discount M-Th (IIRC). Spencer's also has a card at these stands and good for 10% anytime.

For the combination of excellent steaks, good sides, and affordable prices, we think it's hard to beat JaK's places in Laurelhurst, West Seattle (still?) and Issaquah. Actually prefer it over El Gaucho, Ruth's Chris, Met and other "name" places. Daniel's is also great, though. But JaK's is way cheaper.

El Gaucho
Just had another meal at El Gaucho's.
Fantastic! As good as it gets! |
I love the Keg (especially when in tow with fredmartens) and, of course, I've eaten enough times at the Buenos Aires Grill that they should probably bronze my chair in memorium. :)

Jaks!! if considering 'price'.
I'd rather had 2 steak meals at Jaks than going once in either the Met, Union Sq Grill, or El Gaucho. Approx same quality with half price :)
Also agree that the Keg is probably the best of the 'easily affordable' steak - beating poor Outback and Stuart Anderson by far. Want to try Daniel's broiler though. Now, top restaurant on my 'next to visit' list.. |
