Atlanta Restaurants
Ok, last time I asked for help was for DC, and the responses were really helpful, so here goes for Atlanta:
Wife and I have two free nights, Sunday, Monday, and would like to try some of Atlanta's best. More interested in food than atmosphere, type of food, other than really exotic stuff, unimportant (although I favor French, and she Italian). We are at the Omni by the CNN center with no car, but don't mind a walk if the area is ok. Will not have coat/tie (tucks and tails yes) so I prefer an establishement without that requirement. Cost is a consideration only that I don't want two "break the bank" restaurants in any one trip. OK FT'ers do your stuff. Thanks for the help. |
Did a search of the Atlanta restaurants in the US South forum not provide you with any thoughts?

Sweet Willie: Thanks for the suggestion -- I checked this briefly but I was hoping to get some of the latest ideas. As you know from Chicago, restaurants change at a drop of the fork so I was trying to get the newest information.

The best restaurants in Atlanta are managed by the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group (www.buckheadrestaurants.com)
IMHO, the best restaurant in the city is called Bluepointe, and is on the corner of Peachtree and Lenox Road in Buckhead. The food is modern Asian fusion, with a crazy twist on a lot of items. I have never been disappointed in every aspect when dining there. Just be sure to call ASAP for a reservation, especially during the weekends. I am a big steak eater, and the best steakhouse in the city is Bone's, on Piedmont Road in Buckhead as well. Reminds me a lot of Peter Luger's with a stuffy clientele and staff (both are mostly male), and the most excellent steaks and sides. |

Go the Gaścho way!
Go to Fogo de Chao on the first night. You'll be so full that you'll be able to skip dinner on the second night. ;) Seriously though. Great food and service and an awesome salad bar. They have the exact same items for lunch and it is cheaper than dinner. Try going around lunchtime instead and have a light snack/dinner if you are still hungry at night.
