Peter Luger bites it! Best Steakhouse in Brooklyn...
Austin Steakhouse
8915 5th Avenue Brooklyn (Bay Ridge), NY www.austinsteakhouseny.com Best steaks, par none...USDA Prime, superb and extensive wine list and premium spirits! Beautiful place, fine service...can't wait to go back. |
might want to post this on the NYC Forum thread about steaks. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showt...ght=steakhouse

Looks interesting, considering there are some Flyertalkers who swear by Peter Lugars.
I was to Lugars twice, totally underwhelmed and unimpressed. Once I fell on teh sawdust on the floor and NO ONE came to help me up. The servers were surly and crabby. Maybe it's time to try this Austin's place, especially with our resident "Brooklyn tour guide" to help find the place ;) |
Everybody's a wiseguy. ;)
Maybe dinner after the 2005 BRT can take place here, instead of an authentic Italian restaurant. |
Bacon is the only reason why I head to Lugers. Their steak has declined more and more each year. Just too oily and tough.

Peter Lugar's steak tasted spoiled to me. Horrible -- worst thing I ever had. The onion rolls were good, as was the strudel and schlag, however.

I've heard good things about Sparks Steakhouse in Manhattan as well as the new restaurant opened by former Peter Luger head waiter, Wolfgang Zwiener, aptly named, Wolfgang's.

I was also unimpressed with Luger's after years of hearing good reviews. I prefer Morton's or The Palm.

Citisearch
Austin's went from zero to second in nine months (opened November, 2003) as the best steakhouse in NYC.
