Best of Denver
 

I need upscale dinner advice for Denver...Any hints? I was thinking Kevin Taylor or Tante Louise. THANKS.

Search and maybe post in the West forum as well (or link to this thread). A few more specifics might be helpful (location (downtown, LoDo, a particular suburb, etc.) and cuisine types).

I haven't been here long enough to really find many such places. In downtown Denver are some of the upscale chains (Ruth's Chris, etc.). I've also been to a good, classy New Orleans style restaurant called Gumbeaux or something close.

Nothing there is really good. Kevin Taylor's probably your best bet.

Brooks Steakhouse

My husband and I went to Tante Louise for my birthday last year and it was wonderful. Excellent food in a romantic setting. The service was great and very attentive. I highly recommend the bread pudding for dessert.

We went to Flagstaff House (in Boulder) for Valentine's...great food but way overpriced, great view also. If you've got the money to blow, go for it! We enjoyed it but it was definitely a once is enough thing for us (and our bank account).

Brook's is also very good, but I would not recommend it if you're looking for a romantic setting, it's much more of a business dinner type of setting.

I've heard great things about Kevin Taylor, but we haven't made it there yet.

Also, if you don't mind a little drive, the Alpenglow Stube at Keystone Resort is fabulous. They have chef's tasting menu where you get 7 courses, you don't know what you're getting until it comes out, and everyone at the table will have something different. The food is excellent, and the setting is great....on top of a mountain, you have to take the gondola to get to it, open fireplace, etc. We've been there twice and loved it both times.

You might want to try Cafe Brazil (close to downtown, no credit cards though). Also Bistro Vendome in LoDo is quite good. Vesta Dipping Grill isn't bad, but a little too trendy for me.

Went to Kevin Taylor it was very good. We had a party of eight the restuarant wasn't crowded service was good and food presented well. Next stop Tante Louis, thanks for the suggestions. I hope to try them all....

The Fort
 

Try the Fort outside of Morrison for a variety of game and nice atmosphere. The G8 ate there not too long ago.

The Buckhorn Exchange is Denvers oldest steakhouse. Est in 1893. They have a wide veriaty of meat like buffalo, venison and Elk.
