Private Dining Rooms

For business or a social gathering, Forbes has a list:

Willie,

A select few of us (cough) coughed up the big bucks at Masa's in San Francisco this summer. I believe you can find all the (boastful) details on the SF dining boards. http://www.flyertalk.com/dining/ftdi...um/redface.gif

I had dinner several times at Mortons in NY in a private room. Nice experience if you ever have a chance.

Interesting choices. I would not pick either the Dallas winner or runner-up for a business dinner myself... a date maybe, but not a business dinner.

Those both reek of the 24-year-old dot.bomb exec hangouts... not somewhere you would take corporate professional types.

As far as Dallas goes, everyone knows that any true business dealings still get done over steak. Trite? Perhaps... but that is just the deal.

Each industry seems to have its own steakhouse of choice... in mine, its Pappas Bros. Dinner any night of the week is a whos-who of various players, former colleagues, and potential clients. Very very interesting happenings going down with some frequency. http://www.flyertalk.com/dining/ftdining_forum/wink.gif

I have to quibble with the DC picks as well.

Food at Galileo is good. Kinkead's is overrated. But Jeffrey's at the Watergate? http://www.flyertalk.com/dining/ftdi...m/confused.gif

Personally, I'd head outside the city for one of the private rooms at 2941 in Falls Church. Outstanding food, possibly the best food in town right now, great views, and unobtrusive service.

But that's just me. But where does business actually get done? The steakhouses... The Caucus Room, The Palm . . .

I am surprised that Plumpjack wasn't on the list in San Francisco. I hosted a dinner party there for about 30 people when my son graduated from USF Law School. They did a great job. It was all done very professionally, the food was excellent as was the service. Their food and wine prices were very fair. One of the guests at that party hosted a birthday party at a later date for her husband as a result of the good experience at Plumpjack and it was just as nice (actually, nicer, in that I was a guest and not a host)
