"Dive" Bars - post?
Posted by: Erik the red
Does anyone have any interest in seeing "dive" bars posted to this forum, perhaps labeled as such in the appropriate location or located under their own separate heading. By "dive" I'm not refering to dangerous places, really just "local" bars with alot of character, $3.00 beers, a juke box, pool tables, etc. But maybe, not the kind of place you would bring a first(or any)date to or the kind of place your Mom would like to know you visited. A place you probably wouldn't find on a first visit, but a place you could feel comfortable in. Don't get me wrong, I like the nice places too, just sometimes I'm in the mood for a little less sterile environment. Do you think such postings are appropriate in Flyer's Places? posted June 09, 2001 18:56 Replied by: BlondeBomber Dive Bars are In! Absolutely. If you notice my posts from Cameroon, you will see a range of accommodation too. It is not just for "elite" travel. I always want to know where the best value for my money is. Sometimes that is a Red Roof Inn at $32 per night in quiet location with a rocker recliner, 27" TV, big workspace etc. posted June 11, 2001 00:05 |
$3.00 beers at a "dive"? For that kinda' money, I wanna' get "on the keg" and drink all night - maybe even witness a fight! http://www.flyertalk.com/dining/ftdining_forum/wink.gif

I would love a section on dive bars!!!! Real people and usually a pool table or two. Definitely....
$3.00 for a beer? Wow! Beers at my local dive are dirt cheap...$1.00 Killarney bottle, $1.80 Molson bottle, $1.20 Bud can. If you spend more than $20.00 you definitely should not drive home. |
Excellent idea!
