Chambord, but very lightly....I just marinate the berries in it but leave the cake intact since I don't like soggy cake.

Chateau Monet less expensive and a good substitute.

Anything orange flavor goes great with blueberries (orange zest is the best secret ingredient in a blueberry pie).

Amaretto would be great. That's what I use in trifle. Also usually adorn the top with thin sliced almonds if there are no allergy issues.

If there are concerns about alcohol, like small children partaking of the dessert, I sometimes use a Torani syrup to moisten the cake or marinate the berries.

I second Kirsch. Works so well in all these situations.

Grand Marnier. Nice orange flavor that will go well with berries.

I went with a nip bottle of Chambord. Couldn't find Kirsch anywhere in the store - and it was a fairly large one. It worked out fine.

I might try a little piece of the pound cake soaked in whatever first just to see if you like it.
Chambord?

Actually I believe I won. I was the first to mention Chambord.
The prize should be some of the OP's dessert.

It's a technicality - Chambord ended up being my choice because I couldn't find anything else in nip bottles.

Not sure you would really want it after it has been sitting around for almost a week.

Well you are correct! I must have posted right after reading the OP because I always use Chambord with berries.

I assumed that you would freeze it for me.
