BOSS Browar Witnica S.A. "Lemon Beer"

Brewed and bottled in Poland. It is a 4.2% abv malt beverage brewed with lemon juice and comes in a 500 mL bottle.

A little sweeter than I would normally prefer.

Now that I think about it, it was probably closer to a shandy. It was a malt beverage according to the label.

Just kind of strange overall. I have a great idea for a cake that would use this beer, or even a lemon chicken kind of thing. Luckily it is very inexpensive ($2.29 for the half liter!).

Maybe the term shandy wouldn’t be familiar in Poland.

Long before anyone put shandy in a bottle, bartenders were mixing beer and lemonade and calling it shandy. My first was in a hotel bar in Cardiff 25 years ago. I was the center of attention in a bar full of Welsh construction workers. They kept buying me beers and asking me about American politics. When I was almost too drunk to stand, they switched me to shandy. I watched the bartender draw half a beer from the tap and top it off with a bottle of “lemonade” that looked more like sprite than anything from Minute Maid.

Poles might be more familiar with the German word for shandy: radler.

I'm intrigued by this lemon beer.

Even ignoring the lactose on the label, I don’t know that I could enjoy a mint flavored beer. But it does solve the problem of what to drink right after you’ve brushed your teeth.

Especially if you brush your teeth with Rumple Minze

For some odd reason Europeans refer to lemon-lime soda as "lemonade". I don't know what they would call a drink of lemon juice, water, and sugar.

A summer treat on a cold winter day: White Claw strawberry flavor.

Got a variety pack with strawberry, blackberry, mango, and pineapple. I think I have only had the mango flavor before so looking forward to the others; strawberry isn't great but with a few drops of lime juice it becomes quite nice. 7-Eleven had a spend-$20-get-$10-off deal and this was an additional $2 off, so the 12-pack and a cup of pineapple was only $12.

From Bristol, CT. Purchased over the weekend at Stew Leonard's wine store in Danbury.

Not bad, but not my favorite.

From one of my favorite Asheville breweries. Poured carefully but has a very thick, long lasting head.

Novy, Sf ca

lagunitas ipa

I asked for a lagunitas and the server asked if I wanted the ipa or the non-alcoholic lol
I have zero way of knowing if it’s alcoholic. I’ve never had a zero percent beer.

I drank near beer for 16 years of my adult life. It’s not generally good.
