Sammies on Arizmendi baguette - warmed at 350 and lightly buttered
lucca deli: Calabrese salami head cheese potato salad with expensive ($15+ per pound) meats like these, I don’t want to add condiments like vinegar or chili sauce or sliced pickles or cheese. Yet I do love mixed sandwiches. It’s so complicated for me. cantaloupe melon lacroix

Pepperoni pizza from Doppio, Kuwait City - a bizarre place to find as it was hidden on an upper floor of a joint office-mall complex - I was the only guest, but the pizza had quite good flavor (though, the crust was a tad soft but had nice taste)

Pizza, wings, and whiskey - I just had Laphroig 10-year. I gifted the Abasolo to the host. Next time for him I’ll probably just bring beer because he has a lot of whiskey at this point!

Chicken quesadilla and chips and queso - Chipotle, The Avenues Mall, Kuwait ($17) - later got some monkey bread from Bouchon Bakery, which was okay but needed more cinnamon and some sort of frosting or glaze
I never eat Chipotle in the US, but it was a nice reprieve from pizza, and The Avenues was just a beautiful space (walked 6 miles!) https://cimg6.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...6fecbc683.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...96f7494fa.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.fly...e6e4775d4.jpeg |
Chipotle in Kuwait! Interesting. I went to the one in London in 2010, though it wasn't nearly as good as I was expecting it to be.
Dinner this evening in LAS at Istanbul Mediterranean - quite good and paired well with an episode of SNL :). This was their beef and lamb Turkish sandwich. https://photos.smugmug.com/FlyerTalk...IMG_1737-L.jpg |

Lamb sausage stuffed pepper. Fern Bar, Sebastopol. Yum. With an expertly prepared Grasshopper for dessert. Probably 30 years since I last had one.

There were many American chains on display at The Avenues, as well as throughout Kuwait - Chipotle, Raising Cane’s, Shake Shack, The Cheesecake Factory, Texas Roadhouse, Applebee’s, IHOP, a Starbucks on every corner, etc. - it was quite trippy.

I came across a recipe for “skillet pizza,” made stove top in a cast iron skillet. I “cheated” slightly by putting it under the broiler for about a minute to brown the cheese. Looks better than it tasted, but not bad. |

Same here on all, but I've also never seen/tried potato on a pizza, and I'm pretty sure I don't want to.

For me it's just the double starch thing I guess. I don't do potatoes in burritos or pitas or shawarmas either. I found it strange in Brazil that french fries and white rice were very commonly served side by side on various plates. By the way, have you had the opportunity to witness Europeans eating hamburgers with knife and fork yet? :)

I would choke on my food laughing if i ever saw someone eating a burger with knife & fork. 🤣 I have been to Europe countless times & have never seen that. I am a bit uncomfortable seeing pizza eaten with a fork except really thick or full of toppings. |
