Best Half Caff K-Cup?
 

Recent convert to a Keurig. I have found that my favorite Kcup is Starbuck's Pike Place or Breakfast Blend after trying a bunch.

My husband drinks 50/50 regular and decaffeinated and we are having a hard time finding a good "half caff" Kcup. ( yes that is what they call it)

Looking for recommendations.

(Using the " make your own kcup" contraption is too much work.)

You may not have many options for Half Caff. My mom and aunt buy Folgers Half Caff K-Cups, but they've had a hard time finding them this year. I know at one point the only place they could find any brand of half-caff K-cups was directly from Keurig.

I haven't seen many half-caff pods for sale, but a cheaper option is to buy the reusable pods as half-caff seems to be much more prevalent in 'bulk' coffee versus the K-cups. Heck, you can even blend your own with your favorite coffees--start with a bag/can of regular and decaf of your preferred coffee, mix together and voila, your own half-caff blend!

Unrelated, but wow...I like my coffee rich, bold and strong. Of everything I've tried from Starbucks (which I do like) to Green Mountain to Dunkin' and more...Kroger's "Private Selection" Guatemalan blend is hands down my absolute favorite. So strong and dark, but neither bitter nor acidic. I'll take it over ANYTHING else I've ever tried.

Community Coffee chicory blend kcup?

I haven't had their coffee in a while, but I still have (and use) the little blade grinder that came with the Community Coffee subscription that my mom got for me some 30+ years ago before there was as much good coffee around everywhere as there is now. Peet's was just barely outside the bay area, and well before starbucks hit the upper midwest. Some time after I got the subscription and grinder and had moved to MSP, I was in a coffee shop watching some guy who seemed to be in town for a grad school interview who couldn't get the right size coffee because he kept saying "tall" and the barista of the local shop kept trying to give him a 20 oz cup.

I didn’t see a half caffeine option, but this what we have been using for years. Biodegradable.

If you like Pikes Place, just get Pikes Place Reg and Pikes Place Decaf and make one of each and mix them together.

When it first came out, I used a keurig because I would drink one cup of coffee a day, and it was the easiest way. I also liked how I could get some favorite blends not available as a stand-alone flavor like Wild Blueberry, Hazelnut, and Butter Toffee, which are now available. But as Herb stated, it is not environmentally friendly, and I also had to give it up as the caffeine raised my blood pressure, so I no longer use it even though I still have one sitting on my counter. I do use the machine when I need to brew hot water for instant soup or Lipton hot tea so as not to pull out a pot to make hot water. I find using a microwave to heat water unreliable as sometimes it is not hot enough or it becomes too hot.

You shouldn't be using a microwave to make hot water. The kettle was invented for that very purpose. :p

Exactly my point- I don't need to use a kettle, I use the Keurig machine w/o any K-cup to give me a cup of hot water.

While realizing this will not help the OP, I can recommend this coffee brewer for anyone who wants a machine that will do a very good job of brewing one cup or a full pot.
I bought it for my mother after some research and we both love it (I have an old espresso setup and am thinking of downsizing and just buying myself the OXO), and it's easy enough to use for an 80+ year old who has a bit of arthritis in her hands.
Not inexpensive, but I got it for a significant amount below MSRP during the Christmas season.

I use the electric kettle - double purpose - I pour the excess near-boiling water on the sponge, to keep the germs dead.

I use boiling water for tea and pour over coffee because I like my drinks hot rather than just lukewarm.

Finally buying KDP - the part that’s not majority owned by JAB :-)
I resisted for years because I think KDP is so bad for the environment yet there’s always potential for a better Kcup as they continue to build that captive audience. More Abnb spots will switch to kcup for convenience of their future tenants. Plus that ridiculous cost.
