Pancakes & Syrup Peeps

I don't even hate to admit they're better than not half bad.

I am not sure what this means, but I am going to say that, while I have never been a big fan of pancakes or waffles, my cousin will make waffles using her waffle iron and krusteaz waffle mix.

I will take one hot fresh waffle, place some butter and some real maple syrup on it. It will be heaven,

She makes them for me twice a year. One when I visit her family on Christmas and another when the family rents a beach house in Maine together in July. Yes, she travels with a waffle maker, bless her.

I eat eat no other waffle lest I sully the memory of these waffles accidentally with off brand mixes, or not real maple syrup.

OMG, just ignore my post about real waffles, I was hungry. LOL

I thought you meant Peeps as in 'people'. I have been hanging around my students too much.

Those look horrible but I am glad you enjoyed them.

Just to be clear, these are marshmallows flavored with maple?

Just to be clear, I wouldn't call it exactly "maple." It is syrup, and of course, pancakes. I wouldn't be surprised if one day you'd find these on top of a stack at the Maison Internationale des Crêpes.

We live in prime Peeps territory and see all their variations on Marshmallow with Chemical Additives. Can't imagine being bold enough to try the Pancakes with Syrup variation, but the holiday tree mint ones covered in dark chocolate are pretty good.

Wait, people actually eat those? :p I thought they were for microwaving to see how big you could get them without starting a fire... or for burning down your house when failing at it.

A friend stocks up on Peeps after Easter and uses them all summer at camp fires instead of marshmallows.

As do we. Sticking to the basic bunnies and chicks. They're amazing, the sugar get's a carmelized on the outside, and we all cheer when the eyes go "pop" and disappear. Much better than plain old marshmallows. Bunnies are better than chicks because they're flat.

Dammit. Now I want s'mores.

Interesting. I didn't realize there was a scale among them.

Sorry!

The bunnies just fit better on the s'more since they're sort of the same shape.

The other thing we discovered over the years is that the perfect accompaniment for s'mores is Prosecco.
