My first choice is always water... however "ginger" which is not necessarily ginger in flavour but the old Scots name given to any fizzy soft drinks (in central and south Scotland anyway). Well, for ginger I'd always choose Irn-Bru every time.

I believe Scotland is in the minority of countries where Coca-Cola isn't the top selling fizzy drink - for us it's Irn-Bru.

My favorite type of soft drink is Guaranį.
I like the Guaranį Antarctica brand the best and also the Kuat brand.
Kuat is made by Coca-Cola, but I haven't seen any Guaranį for sale in the States.

While in Croatia this summer, and needing a break from alcohol, I enjoyed several Schweppes Bitter Lemons while staring at the Adriatic. It's a wonderful summer drink. I don't believe it's sold in the US (other than at extremely high prices on Amazon), and the two substitutes I've tried are just not the same.

In Sweden, at least, it's becoming much more difficult to find Diet Coke (also known as Coca-Cola Light). Coke Zero is all over the place. Wouldn't surprise me if the rest of Europe was like that, too.

Mostly ginger ale (diet Schweppes or Canada Dry, whichever I can find) for me, alone or occasionally at the cocktail hour with gin (foghorn) or vodka (Moscow mule) and a wedge of lime. I keep some Coke Zero around mostly in the summer for those times when it's too darned hot to start the morning with hot tea or coffee. I keep a few diet 7-Ups around to make an old-fashioned on those occasions when I wish I were dining at a Wisconsin supper club.

Is that a pretty recent development? I have been to several countries in western Europe in the last few years and had no problem finding Coca Cola Light.

I may buy a 2L of Diet 7Up every other month, but flavored/essensed sparkling water has been my go to for about six years now.

For a tailgate, I'll buy a couple of the 10 calorie Mtn Dew Kickstart Ultras or Monster Mutant sodas as mixers.

That said, since it's now November, I'll buy Diet Sierra Mist Cranberry or Sprite Zero Cranberry, whichever is on sale, so generally the PepsiCo product.

And when seen , I'll grab a Cheerwine.

No Fresca fans? I rather enjoy a Fresca, particularly in the summer.
