Who wants some Cheese Balls?
Remember Planters Cheez Balls? They are coming backA popular '90s snack is about to make a comeback. The Kraft Heinz Company confirmed it will relaunch Planters Cheez Balls and Cheez Curls for a limited time, starting in July. |
No, thanks! I won't eat it either. Sorry Folks. :(

Finally, some good news! |

Do you Americans have Cheezles?

Well, UTZ still made them but Planters was always better imo. |
They have definitely been around longer than the 90s. It was either the late 70s or early 80s, my sister and I had a can of these and were munching on them during a road trip across Texas and in one of those stories that go down in family lore as to when my sister threw up bright orange in the city of Orange, Texas from eating those things as a kid.

I love these!!!!!!!!! Agree, they were around in the 80s—that’s when most of my snack-eating childhood was. They tend to come up in those, “Why did they ever stop making those?” conversations with people of similar age, too—I guess enough people missed them to warrant bringing them back. They had other snacks in that line, too, including Cheeto-like cheese crunchies, but the cheese balls were always the best. They better still be packaging them in the traditional blue cylinders, too. |

I won't buy them to try, but suspect that they won't be as good as my memory of the ones I consumed in my misspent youth. Yes, in some cases they solved the post-indulgence "munchie crisis."
I guess the closest readily available substitute would the puffed Cheetos. While we're on the topic, I'm not sure if these were regional, but the cheeze snacks I still crave were fake cheetos that came in a black and orange bag, can't remember the name for the life of me. I'm sure they're long gone. |
Remind me... these are the ones that came in the paper barrels lined with foil paper?

There were lots of great snacks in the 90's that are now gone. I remember we used to buy instant oatmeal that came with these little flavored syrup packets you would mix into the oatmeal. I always loved those as a kid. Oreo O's cereal was also quite delicious. And I'm still bitter about the loss of Dunkaroos. |

I never understood why they were packaged as if you weren’t going to finish them in one sitting. Well, some of us had our intake of them being controlled by our parents, so they would last for a while! I suspect they are terrible if they’re stale, as that big CRUNCH feeling/sound is part of the experience. |

The proper spelling is "cheez," not to be confused with actual cheese. The distinction is important!

So, anyone manage to actually get any? Supposedly the the only vendors are Amazon (sold out) and Walmart (not an option), but I’ve read they’re available elsewhere—I just haven’t actually seen any. (Not at Safeway, for instance.) Where have you spotted/purchased them? |
I have two friends that ordered them from Amazon and have eaten them already.

These, along with Cheez Curlz are available at my local grocery store.
|
I still haven't seen these anywhere in stores. Though to be honest, with Utz cheese balls still available by the barrel, I've really stopped looking as hard.

Long time bump, but Planters introduced a new flavour "Nacho Cheese" which tastes a lot like a nacho cheese Dorito. I might have bought five containers of both flavours. Merry Christmas indeed.
