Your silver tea service
That's what you get on a British Airways flight in first class, right?
|
This was one of the hallmarks of PAA first class service.

(1) Used it for service? (2) Polished it? (3) Dusted it? Ours was a gift when we married over a decade ago. We've never used it for service, nor polished or dusted it, though my mother has been known to do both on her annual visit. ;) We keep it displayed in our dining room cabinet. It really is beautiful |
Polish my own Tea Service? Of course not. That's what the help is for.
|
Inherited one. Never used it. Silver is hopeless for tea as, even with a tea cosy, the teapot gets cold too quickly.
|
At home, I believe it's the under butler or footman who polishes it. I don't go below so I'm really not sure.

Of course, one must supervise the staff* closely to make sure it doesn't get chipped due to careless handling when washed. As to when we last used one, well, this morning, of course. *how a teenager who is required to do the dishes perceives himself |
Your silver tea service
Just thinking the same thing - must polish tea service and ice cream forks (this is a thing).

Yes, really. I've been waiting for the butler to polish it, but he's failed to show up for work for the decade I've been in this house.

It was my job to hand wash the "silver" ware my mom got from collecting those little coupons. Not because it was especially delicate, but because we didn't have a dishwasher!
