How do you cook Tofu without frying in oil ?

Any Tofu recipes that do not include cooking in oil ?

I have a microwave , toaster oven , sandwich maker . electric wok

So what do you mix the tofu with ? or cover it with ?

Yes I see the already made Tofu burgers , hot dogs etc , but I am more thinking of the block tofu you buy at the market ,

And are there different "flavors" of Tofu or only when you add spices / flavors

Asian recipes are great and any other ideas you have seen around the world in your travels :)

Thanks for your ideas

A good option if you purchase the "soft" type tofu, is to steam it in some soy sauce and grated ginger for about 10 mins. You can use the electric wok for that.

Top it off with some spring onion, and you'll have a nice side dish.

Use Silken / soft tofu for desserts. Put in a blender with roasted sweet potato, sweetener and spices (think pumpkin pie). Chill and then serve as a parfait.

I chop it up and use it in recipes instead of ground meat. SO in chilli or spaghetti sauce.

Try making a miso soy sauce vinaigrette, coating firm tofu (I happen to like smoked tofu) in the vinaigrette, and pan searing in a non-stick pan. There is oil in the vinaigrette, but less than deep frying.

Someone told me they bake it, in the same way one simulates frying meat through baking. I don't have additional details, I'm afraid. Maybe marinating it is involved, also?

I assume you'd have to at least spray a little oil on it to make it crispy.

Yeah, I would imagine that, cooking spray, or maybe brushing with egg white...
