Stand Mixer too big

With my tax rebate check I ordered online a stand mixer. I got a refurbished model but it seems to work just fine. However, I think I misjudged the size of the thing - the bowl is absolutely huge! I already tried a couple of my recipes in it, and it seems that the bowl is just to big and the attachments cant really do a good job, especially the dough hook. Any ideas on what I can do? I do not want to package the whole thing back up and ship it back - not sure if I can even do that.

Sell it on Craigslist.

Donate it to a local charity, did this come as a bonus for booking a flight or hotel room?

I don't want to necessarily get rid of it. I paid for it, I really need a stand mixer, I was just hoping there was a trick to mixing smaller amounts in it - maybe a smaller bowl or something.

If you have the 5 quart tilt-head model Kitchenaid does make a smaller 3 quart bowl that will fit it. I have one and it's good for things such as whipped cream or egg whites. If you have the larger bowl-lift models then you are out of luck.

The problem here is that, like everything else in life, you just knead more dough.

You aren't going to be able to resolve your problem except by increasing the volume of your initial mix.

Our Kitchenaid stand mixer was perfect for our home in Canada but after moving to Japan, it is way too big. It would take up a third of our total kitchen counter space.

Coupled with having to get an power converter, it was too much of a pain to keep.

We have it packaged and ready for our return (eventually) to Canada.

If there is too much clearance between the attachments and the bowl, you can adjust that. Check the manual.

Ah yes, there's an adjustment screw in the mixer. I'd forgotten about that. At least, there is on KitchenAid mixers.

I suppose this means I have to read the manual, huh? Thanks. I will try that.
