Do NOT trust TripAdvisor.com
I've learned the hard way for spending time reading and believing in those glowing reviews of restaurants on Tripadvisor.com. Most - if not all - those restaurants I dined at (based on glowing reviews on TA) turned out to be a great disappointment and overpriced. Now, I understand how TA stay in business: by deceiving travelers and consumers alike. What a bunch of scammers!

TA is a venue. FT is a venue. Craigslist is a venue. Don't blame the venue.

I take exception to you blanket damning of Trip Advisor. I have reviewed restaurant and hotel alike. I am fair and I don't sugarcoat anything. I call a spade a spade.
Sorry if you were disappointed in a review, but why not write a review yourself instead of complaining about other's observations? |
I've posted over 150 reviews on TA. If the reviewer is BamaVol, trust it.
I read the OP's complaint all the time, but it has not been my experience. Of course, YMMV. For some, Applebee's is the height of fine dining. There are others who can never be satisfied. And even the better restaurants have bad nights or can fail at a few tables. I like to read other reviews by the same reviewer to know what I'm dealing with. If there aren't any or many, well that tells me something. It's a tool, one of many, that I use to select where to stay and eat. |

I've read some of the fake ones in the past and they can be hilarious. And obvious. And if it's not obvious, how do you know it's fake? |
