Um ... yum? Cramps just reading it. I don't even know where the closest one is, but it is many many miles away. Yay. |

Clearly there is a lot of competition in their segment, and anything that can get people in the doors is worth a try for them - it is definitely getting a lot of coverage today in the media. |
"Endless apps" at TGI Fridays
followed by "Endless Diarrhea". TGIF apps are mostly pre-cooked, pre-portioned, boil in a bag food made in a factory, then reheated. It's like airline food, without the warm nuts.

If you get diarrhea just from eating processed foods, you need to see your doctor because something is seriously wrong with you.

Is someone forcing you to eat there? Otherwise I'm not sure what the relevance is about the distance to the closest one. There could be one next door to you, and if you don't care for it, you simply don't visit it.

(2) Clearly I was adding editorial comment; and (3) The smell would be annoying if the distance was next door to me. Lucky for Doc Savage, he lives much closer to two of them! We're also woefully lacking in Olives Gardens (I assume that is the proper plural!) and Chili's in these parts. :) |

The relative quality of the food aside, I don't see the attractiveness of the promotion for the customer, considering that you receive unlimited quantities of only one type of appetizer. I love loaded potato skins in general but after three I am full, let alone an unlimited number of them. It's like "unlimited" pasta - who can eat more than one big plate of pasta? I suppose if a group were to go and each order a different app and then share that this might make some sense for the customer but, based on the article's claim that doing so is not strictly within the rules but they won't police it, it seems like a pretty sketchy basis around which to organize a night out with friends. Of course that is the point of the promotion - appear to offer the customer an unbelievable deal knowing full well that the vast majority of customers will not eat more than they otherwise would have, and then benefit from the publicity and increased traffic. I feel like I need to step in here to defend my employer. I work for a TGI Friday's in Durham to pay my way through law school. Some of our appetizers are okay, yes, really!
Now, that said, the potato skins are terrible since they changed how they make them, you don't want one, let alone an endless amount. The pot stickers are decent enough and as an occasional treat, the fried mozzarella is pretty good. I will close by saying in two years when I get my JD, I'm never setting foot in a Friday's again though :p |

Well, I don't mind traveling many many miles ago for having something delectable. I agree we do get things in our neighborhood but some places are just unique. Looking forward at this one.

That's exactly as I would expect it to play out - who wants one plate of just the same stuff - go with 3 others, and you can have some variety. I don't eat most of the appetizers places like this, but I can see it being popular with young folk - besides, everyone knows that they are making their margins on the beer, not the food in any case. |
