I was amazed to see that name when we moved to West Des Moines in 1998! One we frequented was about 1/4 mile from our home.

Absolute worst possible restaurant name I can imagine. Unsuitable for anywhere with Spanish speakers in the population:

A much, much worse choice name than this intentionally badly named noodle bar in London:

There's a chain of crab shacks out on the NC Coast called "Dirty Dicks" and they advertise with "I got my crabs at Dirty Dicks". I hear the tourists just pile on in and they make a fortune off t-shirt sales.

This place is true to it's name for sure:http://www.tripadvisor.co.uk/Restaur..._Province.html I always thought a Bar & Grill called 'Sam 'n Ella's' would be cause for bankruptcy.

Actual name of a former restaurant in Asheville:

Bearly Edible

It still blows my mind that someone who invested a lot of time and money in setting up a restaurant would choose that name. And, no it was not open for long.

This isn't a restaurant but it's the same situation. When we remodeled our bathroom, one of the subcontractors was a company called "Counter Intelligence". They specialized, of course, in counter tops. Clever name.

Then when they messed up* our order, the OTHER meaning of their name sprang to mind. :D

* Our order was for the 6-foot master bath counter top to be black (silestone) and the 3-foot guest bath counter top to be brown. What they delivered and installed was 6-foot brown in the master and 3-foot black in the guest. And since we discovered it later that day and the brand new sinks had also been epoxied into place, they had to spring for new sinks as well as fixing their counter top mistake.

I remember a new bar in Puerto Vallarta which was opened by a couple of Mexican entrepreneurs with an apparently faulty grasp of English idiom and called it "The Cockpit."

They didn't mean to open the type of bar that they ended up with.:D
