Diet Coke here. All the way. Love that chemically taste. I hate Coke Zero only marginally less than real Coke.

For an add-to-coffee sort of sweetener, you might try Nectresse, which is mostly another "natural" plant-based sweetner and which has a much more neutral flavor to my palate than either stevia or aspartame. Haven't seen any sign of that being used in soft drinks, though.

Every calorie counts during weight loss efforts.

If the idea is to quench your thirst and stay hydrated
cold water will do that just fine with no calories and you
can enjoy those calories consuming something else that
offers better nutritional value.

Have you tried Pepsi Max? It is my favourite of all of the diet colas, to me it has a taste that is closest to Coke Classic.

Thanks for the replies. As many of you noted, I'm still losing weight, so why not stick with what works? And you are probably right. I guess, for myself, when I drink 3-4 Jack & Cokes, adding up to possibly 560 calories ... that is basically a meal. Just seems like such a ... waste of calories (the Coke anyway :p).

Maybe cutting down to 2 JacK&Cokes will do?

Coca-Cola Classic for me (preferably in the small glass bottles - or due to price but still high - the smallest cans = portion control).

I do not drink coffee or tea and cannot have artificial sweeteners. Since you are losing weight you might as well continue to have your Jack and regular Coke. I drink Coke and red wine (but not mixed together) and water - that is about it.

It's been a couple of months, how is the diet going OP?

Why are use by dates printed on coke cans?

Do they not last forever?

The effectiveness of preservatives decreases over time and it doesn't remain as fizzy for long....

Thanks. Understand about losing fizziness. I thought the can provides unlimited life preservation?

Dunno about the kind with real sugar, but the fake sugar breaks down to something foul tasting even if well-sealed. Shelf life may be longer than they say on the package, but I accidentally stored a 12-pack of Cherry Coke Zero for several years in my garage, and when I opened one up they tasted awful.

May be temperature-sensitive; while local weather is pretty mild the garage is subject to what by local standards are pretty steep swings.

The US kind doesn't even use real sugar-it uses corn syrup....

If you refrigerate soda, and then remove it from the fridge, even if it is still sealed, it goes flat fairly quickly.

Different degrees of fake, I guess.

Compared to the chemicals in the stuff I drink (I gave up caloric sugars in my soda years ago) HFCS is still "real sugar."

Thanks for asking! I lost about 30 pounds and then kind of hit a plateau so ... sigh ... I completely gave up alcohol about a month ago, and I will continue to, until I hit my target weight (or at least within 10 pounds of it). Not surprisingly, I started losing weight again. ;)

Not as hard as giving up smoking (which, I failed at), but still I was surprised at how often I used alcohol to kill boredom.

Another 30 pounds and I'll be back to my alcoholic ways! (With lower calorie drinks). :p
