Idine program--are you still using it actively for miles?
Unless somehow my searches have missed them--there seems to be very little interest in the Idine program for Flyertalkers? Is this correct? What is your current 2013 view of Idine program?

There's an entire forum dedicated to it
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/idine...s-network-400/ along with threads in many of the individual airline and hotel forums Searching for it is tough, since it will be called whatever the program calls it in those forums, not idine. |
I use Idine just to keep my AADvantage miles alive. (I have mentally written them off 'cause AA merged with Agony Airline. But who knows? Some day they may have value.)

I don't know if I have any cards linked to the program anymore. So my answer is no.

Actively, no.
A couple of bars w/food which I like in Wisconsin are on IDine, so I pick up some miles a couple of times a year. But the miles don't influence my choice of establishment. |

.... I pick up some miles a couple of times a year. But the miles don't influence my choice of establishment. Plust don't forget that Shoeless Joes (1/4 mile from ORD) is iDine, I'm pretty certain that was my last iDine earning. |
I keep most of my cards linked. I don't actively seek out idine places, but a few times a year I go to one because I would anyway. Or I hit one by accident, and am pleasantly surprised when I get the email that I've just earned a few miles.
The only time I idine specifically to earn is on the rare occasion when I have a program where the miles/points are set to expire. |
I use it on a regular basis. With the iphone app, it is easy to check for restaurants near my location. Plus there are several restaurants near my house that we would eat at anyway. With the bonuses I earn thousands of miles per year and I keep all of my secondary airline and hotel accounts from expiring.

I have all my credit cards registered so I get a surprise every once in a while when I find that a restaurant participates. Can't hurt. @:-) Also, my favorite local hangout (where I go at least once a week) participates, so I get miles regularly, though I'd still go even if they weren't part of the program. |
Got a two-week 10 miles/$1 bonus from Dividend Miles recently. Actively sought out places. Earned over 5000 miles. It helps that I eat a fair number of meals outside the home and that many places I frequent participate in the program, so I just went to those places over the two weeks.
It's money I would have spent anyway, given my lifestyle. Might as well earn miles from it, but I wouldn't frequent a place that participates in order to get miles. |
There are more than a dozen restaurant participants within five miles of my current home offering a variety of options; Italian, Thai, diner, Greek, etc. Because of that I usually wind up with a couple of dines per month just from going out or picking up takeout from somewhere nearby whenever nobody feels like cooking.
