ox tails and veal cheeks
Oxtail is found often in Caribbean/Latin American restaurants. Veal cheeks is something I have yet to see in any restaurant.

Could you try Chinese supermarkets as well?
over here, I found beef cheek in my local supermarket for the first time. Snapped it up. It's currently fashionable in restaurants. |
You can buy small packaged Ox tail and cheeks in numerous Korean grocers, H-mart or Lotte assi plaza in DC. I don't know where you are in south of DC. You can try Annandale, VA. PM me if you need an address.

Oxtails are very common in our area, at least the grocery stores and butcher shops.
This website http://business.intuit.com/boorah-re...s.html?start=0 can help find menu items, for example the link above is for veal cheeks in New York city restaurants You can also google veal cheeks but limit the results to menupages.com pages veal cheeks site:menupages.com and get restaurants that have them on their menu. |

Oxtails and beef (not veal) cheeks (packaged in 3 -5lb. 'econmy' packs) are everyday items in the packaged meat display at my local HEB supermarket. Beef cheeks are a useful cut for many recipes.

I eat oxtail regularly at several Cuban restaurants. Look for 'rabo encendido'.

In the Chicago area, the two big chains Dominicks & Jewel have locations where the butcher is willing to order in most anything, but the list they have to choose from doesn't seem to be that great. They do sell oxtails but I have never seen cheeks (except halibut once at a Dominicks)
Thankfully, there are plenty of independent markets where a good butcher will get in most anything one asks for. Also plenty of restaurants have oxtails, Italian & Caribbean are where I find them mostly. |
Hmart and Lotte, 2 of the largest Korean markets in the US has them by 3 to 5 pounds frozen packs. Usually $1.99 per pound or less. Whole Foods sometimes has it but, they charge $6.99 per pound.

Oxtail are commonly packaged for the ethnic mexican market (at least how they're sold, packaged and presented for that market segment in the PNW in the big chains). No good prices. Cost as much as I pay for t-bone or strip loin steak where I am these days.

Oxtail stew is served nearly every day at the Garden Court Buffet, Main St. Station, downtown Vegas.

I had a fantastic dish of braised veal cheeks with winter vegetables at Bavette's in Chicago earlier this week.
