a 1934 Barolo, so old the label is illegible (can't make out the producer). This was still enjoyable and even still had some fruit. I *love* old wines and this was a great example of how long-lived Barolos can be.

I'm a big fan of the 2nd wines from top Bordeaux estates, but the best of them, such as IMHO, Clos du Marquis from Leoville Las Cases, Forts de Latour, from Latour, and Pavillion Rouge de Chateau Margaux, have become quite pricey themselves. The days when I got the 1982 vintage of Clos du Marquis for $6.95 and 1983 Pavillion Rouge for $9.95 are long passed (They are superb wines even today with well over 30 years of bottle age), nowadays, from a top current vintage, these 2nd wines are pushing $75 retail - which is similar to many of the mid-tier classified growths which they are comparable in quality to.
Obtained from FromVineyardsDirect. It was founded by Esme Johnstone who had previously found Majestic and ran it in the days of interesting parcels. It seems he has excellent contacts in Bordeaux, particularly with Sichel who I think sell them most of the declassified wines. Incidentally, I really find them best at the cheap end where they seem to come up with some very interesting wines for not much money - perfect for everyday drinking.

Last night I had Ch Canon La Chapelle 2008 - drinking perfectly at the moment.

Best wine I ever had was a Pichon Lalande 1975. Just a transcendent Bordeaux.

Over the past couple of days (amongst other things), I've been having a 2016 Plop Rosado de Cabernet Franc. Unfiltered, and really tasty.

2007 Terra Blanca Signature Series Estate Cab we bought today in a wine club vertical special offered at the winery. $295 for a 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, two 2011s and six 2012s (2012 was an amazing year on Red Mountain and Washington in general).

I'm partial to Chambolle-Musigny. Picked up an inexpensive Roblot-Marchand today in France and cracked it open this evening. Very very nice for that price point

Yesterday was a 2005 Montes Alpha M. It is the first red from Chile that I've had with this much age. As described by someone on CT earlier this year (and pretty consistent with my take): 3/23/2017 - Drink up. This particular bottle was past its prime but still nice drink. Fruit began to fade after 1h or so, and a touch of oxidative sherry notes.

Still trying to decide.

Roast chicken for dinner alongside a red cotes de nuits.

But I have some leftover antipasti I'd like to start with, and I'm wondering if the Borgeuil or the Saint Joseph I also have would be 'out of order' before the burgundy. Maybe I need to go to the store and find some sort of acidic white?

I found a vermentino at a local wine shop that was perfect with the antipasto last night.

That and 2 bottles of Burgundy were consumed over the course of afternoon and evening ending with a nasty argument with my better half. Immediate apologies and now tail between my legs and nose to the grindstone for the next several days as I await the return of normalcy.

Don't keep us in suspense - which Burgundies?

Nothing special, but at $15/bottle, I have no complaints.

2007 Colgin Cariad last night

It was sublime. Probably 98-99 points IMO.
