I decided to try Bota Box's malbec and wound up pouring the whole bag down the drain. Blech!

PS Thanks for arranging the wine-tasting at the recent Paris Do, although late arrival due to special circumstances. DS
My pleasure.

This was not a normal Thanksgiving, it was a semi-annual get together of people who share a passion for old wine that just happened to be on Thanksgiving. It also coincided with two other big wine events, so I probably tasted in excess of 250 wines that extended weekend. Needless to say there was a lot of spitting.

As to the "few others", most were dead. A few of us did kick off with a Pinot from Talbott in Monterrey that was very nice, in honor of Thanksgiving. Very different from the rest of the evening though.

Some of you know that my other favorite bulletin board is www.wineberserkers.com They talk about wine the way we talk about miles, points, and etc.

Once a year on January 27, Todd (adminstrator) gets great wine offers from all the boutique wineries that are board members (and friends).

You can register or not. The wines offered for sale today (until 6:10 eastern) are good deals. The real thing. They'll also have auction items later today. Legitimate sales. Ask DLroads.

Good thing it's a snow day on the east coast.

The bad news > the deals are tempting.
The good news > earning miles and points.

A new deal will be posted every 5 minutes. Todd has about 90 deals lines up.
Some of the deals are limited.

Here's the forum link > http://www.wineberserkers.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=54

Here's a link to a post where people discusss which wine deals they're looking forward to. http://www.wineberserkers.com/forum/...?f=54&t=110476

I am really enjoying Dog Point Sauvignon Balanc 2014. It's a lovely citrusy New Zealand sauvignon blanc that is refreshing in the warm weather here in Thailand. It compares favorably to Cloudy Bay in my opinion, but is fortunately quite a bit less expensive here (where wine is exorbitantly priced). This has become my everyday favorite recently.

My local Costco had Vieux Telegraphe for 30GBP recently so picked some up. Definitely on my event horizon.

I'm drinking a delicious red from the Duoro, a 2013 Vista de Regua Carater, that cost me all of $5 from Grocery Outlet. This is supposed to be a $15-17 wine, and it's fair value at that price. At $5, it's a screaming bargain.

Normally my go-to everyday wine is an Elizabeth Spencer Sav. Blanc. But tonight I'm slumming it with a Wente Chardonnay, a leftover from a case that was purchased as PTA gifts.

In Hh ZRH lounge, only one red selection - OVIVO Merlot Veneto. Nothing to write home about, but the third glass is tasting a lot better than the first

Winding up my stay in Zurich also. Still haven't found a Swiss Blauburgunder that really grabs me although I keep trying
