KoKuRyU "RYU" Daiginjo Gold Dragon Sake - this stuff was fantastic

https://www.truesake.com/products/kokuryu-ryu

That was after the bottle of Den Sake Nama unpasteurized, Oakland's finest. (no joke - it is really good)

Decided to mark Canada Day by opening a magnum of Pearl Morissette cabernet franc, one of the relatively few Ontario wines I really like.

Very good. Soft and peppery. Definitely ready. If you mean you have an unopened case of that particular year, I would start drinking it soon.

Giant Steps Pinot Noir (2021). From the Yarra Valley. Pretty good, on the lighter end of pinots as per normal for the new world but not that jammy fruit juice that denotes a bad example. Not quite up there with a very good Central Otago or Martinborough pinot, but then again you’d pay 50% more for one of those, so happy enough with the half case I bought for everyday drinking.

VIK La Più Belle 2014 - a friend works at this winery/resort not far from Rancagua in Chile. First rate if you like that sort of thing, maybe a bit too much concentrated fruit for my taste.

Well, it is a Chardonnay, from a place that never ruined Chardonnay.

2017 Franz Hirtzberger Ried Axpoint Grüner Veltliner Smaragd from the Wachau Valley. It had a beautifully balanced and smooth minerality.

Last night's wine was at an event at Windchaser Wine https://windchaserwine.com/

First, an Anderson Valley Gewurztraminer vertical - 17 /18 / 19
followed by an Anderson Valley Pinot vertical - 15 / 16 / 17 / 18 / 19 plus a Solera Pinot.

Mostly, yum!

This is slightly OT but can anyone recommend a decent tall wine refrigerator?

Our Vinotemp (Costco) broke after 6 years - added freon which got another 2 years but is now kaput. Reviews suggest the compressors are junk.
Was considering buying Vinotheque from Wine Enthusiast but the seller has terrible reviews. I am hoping not to have to splurge for a Eurocave but that is the only one that gets decent reviews.

Help!

I've only had this for 1 year, but so far I've had no issues:

I bought through Costco for ~$2,200.

I'm pretty sure this was from Grocery Outlet, and cost well under $10. I may have got my money's worth, but not much more, as this is pretty unremarkable.

Simple, pleasant aperitif

A nice compliment to pork chops, pan sauce, and polenta.

From Baja California. Mostly Petite Verdot and Syrah with a bit of Cab. $35/bottle special at a high end local Mexican place.

Enjoyed alongside an 18oz. bone-in ribeye steak with grilled cactus, charro beans, and an avocado mousse. Wish I had snapped a pic of the food, which was excellent and fairly priced at $35.
