2011 Bourgogne Blanc La Tufera, Etienne Sauzet. Ł20 a bottle and fantastic value. Tastes just like a rather superior Puligny which it essentially is, coming from the next door vineyards.

Will have to look for it! Last month I picked up a standard Etienne Sauzet Bourgogne Blanc and a Puligny - for some reason my sources tend to only bring in the whites.

Last night I had a Bourgogne Rouge 2011 from Simon Bize in Savigny to go with some guinea fowl. The combination worked brilliantly. The Bize wine used to be almost New Zealand-esque when younger but it has evolved into something much more Burgundian now - a rather good wine at the village level of quality.

Kumeu River's sparkling wine - 30 months on the lees. Best sparkling wine from NZ, I'd say.

2011 Pulenta Estate Grand Cabernet Franc XI. A lovely wine purchased at the bodega a few years ago that managed to survive 3 house moves in reasonable shape. Argentinian single varietal cabernet franc is wonderful and deserves some of the overwhelming attention that Malbec gets from that part of the world.

We ended up opening two more bottles today: the first a 1979 Perrier-Jouet Belle Epoque which iwas in a stunning condition. The cork came out as if it was new - it had a great mousse and a wonderful aged but still lively taste. A stunner.

Next a 2007 Milton (New Zealand) Te Arai Chenin Blanc en magnum, which we had bought at the vineyard about 5 years ago and kep in in our cellar since then. This was beautiful (not the most complex wine in the world or anything but very pleasant indeed).
