Another of my favorites! You should visit the 'Vodka martini' thread. As I recall, some folks wrote that a vodka martini is no martini, with various reasonings.

That is because it was my birthday, so I was better than you yesterday.

Well belated bday wishes to you! My birthday this year was over at a romantic b&b in Alsace. That was nice and hopefully we'll do something similar for the wedding anniversary in a couple of weeks

A bit late but Friday I tasted a variety of 2003 Bordeaux classified growths and Pichon Baron was ok, Grand Puy Lacoste sort of California cab-like and Duhart Milhon Rothschild was absolutely dreadful. If you own 2003 Bordeaux (and I do not) I would recommend reviewing whether you want to hold them or sell.

Today I plan to try Eric Texier's Adele 2012, a Cotes du Rhone blanc which is a blend of 80% Clairette and 20% Marsanne. As much as I enjoy Eric Texier's wines, there is no way it will compare to last Monday's tasting of Louis Jadot Batard-Montrachet 2009 in Magnum.

Haven't updated this in awhile, but recently we picked up a large mixed lot of discounted wine. Nothing outstanding, but tonight's was exceptional for the price - Clos de Los Siete, Argentina, 2010. I've had almost no exposure whatsoever to wines from Argentina save the occasional Malbec, but this was really nice. Just saying

Cooked a few different stews today that required white and red wine. Opened a bottle of 2012 Kim Crawford Sauvignon Blanc and a 2003 Merryvale Beckstoffer Vineyard Selection Cabernet Sauvignon.

Treasure Hunter Fiddler's Green 2006 (tempranillo from California). Very intense and lush.

Likely bringing a 2010 Chablis along with us to sushi dinner mañana. (Ok, so the OP is for today/tonight, but it is already "today" in most of the FT world )

Today for dinner we drank a 1998 Shafer Hillside Select and a 2000 Far Niente Cab and also a 1996 Shafer Port for dessert. Yummy!

For our Christmas party we had a Beaujolais and a Loire Valley for the reds and a Sancerre for those that wanted white. The reds paired very well with the goose.

Last night sort of in the dark I grabbed what I thought was a red but was actually a white. Turned out to be a very nice surprise - Muros Antigos Alvarinho 2012. Will definitely get more.

Picked up a nice Condrieu on sale over in France today and had it with giant prawns tonight. Life is good...
