Iron Chef Japan returns!

Just finished watching the 2 hour opening episode of the return of Iron Chef in Japan. I won't say much so I won't spoil the episode, but it seems Italian cuisine isn't rated highly by the producers....

Outstanding!!! What Network is this on? Do they still have Ohta and Fuki-San? Based on your Italian comment I can only wonder who is still around if Kobe is gone...

Braindrain Oct 31, 2012 7:19 pm

Ohta is still there but others are new. It's on the Japanese network for now, Fuji tv. As for Kobe or any other "old" Iron Chef, they're all gone. Which, I suppose, makes sense as the old guys battled pretty much every major resto in Japan.

Thaks for the heads up. I did some searching and found a site to download it off of. Might be worth downloading, but want to wait til home to use on my junk NetBook in case it has viruses.
Looks like it could be interesting either way...certainly interesting if they end up dubbing it in English and shipping over here to America!

I'd love for this to end up on the Food Network or the Cooking Channel.

I'd guess it's a matter of time as the Iron Chef had a huge following in the US.

you can watch the new iron chef here. no dubbing (alas!) or subtitles, though.

Sakai is gone too? It's surely better than the dilluted american show.
Allez cuisine!!

Braindrain Nov 6, 2012 10:02 pm

Yes, it's a lot better than the American version. The new Iron Chef French seems to come with pretty good credentials.

Just thought I'd mention the Xmas Iron Chef special (12/26, I think) has Michiba battling the current Iron Chef Japan. Yes, I'm looking forward to it! ^

What time the show start? I know it is on Food Network TV. I'll check it out. Thanks.

Braindrain Dec 18, 2012 10:24 pm

It's actually not on Food Network but only showing in Japan (Fuji TV) right now.

JimJ321 Dec 21, 2012 1:21 pm

Wow, Michiba looked like he was in his 80s back in the original show..I can only imagine him now!

Braindrain Dec 21, 2012 4:40 pm

He's actually a regular commentator/judge on the new show. He's older but has kept in fine form.
