America's Best Outdoor Bars
Travel + Leisure: America's Best Outdoor Bars
Where is your favorite? What makes it a fave? :) “Your outdoor bar is only good if your guests are still talking about it at work the next day,” says Anthony Trester, assistant food and beverage director at Milwaukee’s The Yard, where couches, fire pits, and even a brick pizza oven spread out across a hillside. - Chicago - Austin - Washington DC - New Orleans - Park City, UT - Philadelphia - Los Angeles - Milwaukee - NYC - Seattle - Dallas - Denver |
But a pale shadow of its former self....
......The patio at Scholzgarten, Austin, Texas Lost and gone forever, those who recall its pleasures growing very old, it's memory the cause of great lamentation for lost youth.....(beer and setups only back in the those pre-LBTD days) ......Under the trees, outside Crider's Store, South Fork of the Guadelupe, West of Kerrville, TX |
When I saw this article I said "they better have something from Rainey Street in Austin on there" and I was so glad to see that Lustre Pearl made the cut. I was there last weekend and had a great time, even if I lost the Ping Pong came I played :D

The roof-top at Marvins in DC is a very good choice. ^
|
High Bar rooftop at NY is another with panoramic views of Manhattan. This bar is opened till 3am in weekends. The drinks are affordable and you can find hamburgers and hotdogs here.

I think anything outdoors with a view is fabulous - water view preferred over skyline but being able to get sunshine, fresh air and look at something nice is always fun.

It's hard to beat the settings of Gladstone's and Moonshadows in Malibu.

Ava Lounge on the rooftop of Dream hotel in NY. Great views of Times Square and a fun atmosphere that's open quite late.

Jimbo's, Miami, if it's still there. Virginia Key. I heard it will, or did, close when current owner dies or calls it quits. Anybody know?

Sam's in Tiburon (Marin County), CA. Great drinks and food, and incredible waterside views of San Francisco and Sausalito.
|
Even though it's frequently chilly, I still love the beer garden at Zeitgeist in San Francisco.
|
The Friendly Spot Ice House in San Antonio was one of my favorite random finds.
Agree with Zeitgeist, except for the cigarette smoke. |

Go for the drinks and the view. Eat elsewhere.

Thirded. Especially when the Tamale Lady is there.

My vote goes to the rooftop at Brit's in Minneapolis. During the summer you can day drink for hours and play bocce ball, or I think they call it yard bowling. Either way, I call it fun! Great food too and a solid beer variety.
I also really enjoy The Snook Inn on Marco Island. Went for a quick lunch and my wife and I ended up having to take a cab back to the hotel and get the car the next day. Not one of our prouder moments, but one of the more memorable bars we've been at. |
