Seafood Buffet recommendation
 

OK so I like buffets. Vegas has some great ones. Tonight I went with my wife to a newly opened Seafood buffet. It is in Indianapolis, IN 6304 E 82nd Street. The Formosa Seafood Buffet.

At least 25 different Sushi types. Oysters, clams, Crab Legs - many more + chocolate fountain, ice cream buffet. $16.50. I really thought it was good and glad I tried it. I will be back. The wife loved it. Well over 100 dishes and soups and -- etc etc etc

Seafood and buffet don't really seem to go together well, but an okay place that we frequent in the San Francisco Bay Area is Kome. Decent selection of Asian cuisine and a bargain at ~25 a head for dinner on weekends.

My favorites are the Asian BBQ items; roast duck, roast pork, char siu, soy sauce chicken etc.

OK well thanks for the recommend but not much seafood here and that suprises me for San Fran

It's been years, and I have kept thinking I need to return to Virginia Beach (or other location) for Captain George's Seafood Buffet. I've posted about it before, one of those highlights for a person who likes buffets. I don't know what it's like now. I see the reviews are mixed, but they often seem to be for places that a lot of people like.

I suppose I couldn't do the buffet justice these days, just too much good food. I don't care for crab legs but really liked the rest of it.

It's a good thing I don't live nearby, otherwise too tempting, and that is too much food. :eek:

I love seafood and love the atmosphere of Captain Georges. I usually go there and the staff is friendly, food is always fresh and delicious with a huge selection of salads and desserts to choose.

I love lobster, many restaurants include this in their "upscale" buffets.
In Las Vegas, on Sundays, Bally's has a Sterling Brunch, which included lobster--but over the years this brunch has gone down hill in a big way, instead of "real" lobster they now have lobster tails:td:, instead of fresh sushi on rice, they only have rolled sushi--but the price has gone up (nearly) exponentially.
Showboat in Atlantic City, now has lobster in their buffet every day (so they say:p), in the near future I'll try it and report back.

Todai is hit or miss. One in Virginia is far better than Chicago. The one in Virginia serves lobster and sea urchin on certain days.

That was my first reaction, but I think that's because I somehow equate seafood with fish and fish is really hard to serve in a buffet without getting dried out. But of course seafood is a lot more than fish, as the OP points out. I do worry about sushi in a buffet - how fresh is the fish in a buffet.

But Harrah's Tahoe has a really good buffet - not specifically seafood - but they do have lots of sushi, often crab legs, and other non-fish seafood items (as well as fish). And a spectacular view.

Todai in miracle mile shops of LV is so-so. Has anyone been to seafood buffet at RIO lately? It's been years and from what I've read in the past, it's gone down hill... But would love to hear from someone who's been there within the last 6 months or so.

Todai in Chicago was good when it first opened, now it is crap & has been for a long time.

the two most terrifying words in the english language are "seafood buffet."

the only tolerable one i'm aware of is the todai in honolulu, where things seemed fresh. too often, the squid is soapy, the fish has freezer burn, and don't even get me started on the fake "mini" lobsters.

buffet seafood is cheap, in exactly the same sense that "50% yesterday's catch" at the seafood market is cheap.
