I love Super Duper that if my family is at one of the major chains then I just won’t eat there. I’ll sit & wait.

The chicken sandwiches at Shake Shack locations in East and Southeast Asia really are something else. Such great chicken - especially in Japan. Definitely exceeds the quality of the Chicken Shacks in the US.

The chicken sandwiches (and I've tried a few) have been disappointing.

Far better, but admittedly, very expensive. Chase frequently has 10% off deals with certain credit and debit cards, which helps a bit. (But, aren't there several Shake Shacks in the LA area?)

I've been less than impressed with Shake Shack as compared to In-N-Out, but I've only been to one location, so maybe that's why. I can usually find a BOGO burger special on Uber Eats.

Shake Shack's fries are far superior, but the burgers at In 'n' Out are miles ahead.

super duper in sf is so good that I just eschew both chains. That said I tend to only get a cheeseburger at original joes and that is maximum monthly and maybe 4-8 times a year. I love cheeseburgers and have a caloric fear of eating even a 4-oz sized burger.

I think shake shack burgers are smaller diameter but denser and still more hefty. At least, the Calorie load sure feels higher! 😋

Glad you still remember what miles are ;). I'll definitely agree with you on the fries. Burger? They're different and I give the Shake Shack an edge . But the honest truth (sad but one must emphasize that the truth is honest these days) is that over my lifetime, I doubt I've had more than a dozen of either.

Yeah it is not a world class burger, neither is really. For really great burgers, curiously Tokyo has the best I have ever had due to seeking to imitate then elevate. Still California has a distinct edge on burgers (given our BBQ outside 361 days a year weather) over anything out of the East Coast. At least it is not that smash style of the Shake Shack. Really, really do not get the appeal of the sloppiness of that style. And I think in fact they are not even seeking that. All the grease makes it fall apart perhaps. My OCD run rampant I guess.

I'll eat either, as well as Habit, for a convenient quick meal, especially if someone else makes the suggestion and I don't want to be the naysayer. (I'd most likely be picking something local and more interesting - but even then, I'll sometimes succumb to one of the big chains, especially if some adult beverage or another needs some quick absorption ;) ) Meanwhile, In N Out reminds me of Coors when I was growing up. (Now, you're thinking, where could EB1K possibly be going with this?) Coors was once a regional western beer and when relatives would visit from parts east, they'd have to go get themselves some Coors. I probably tasted it first when I was a single digit age and my opinion of it never changed - but it was a thing to do when traveling west. In N Out is the same thing - like a cult pilgrimage, although tastier, and can make for a nice layover activity near LAX or SFO. I doubt you'll ever see "runs" to Shake Shack as an airport layover activity.

As a Midshipman First Class returning to Annapolis after our winter break, I brought back four six-packs of Coors in a seabag. One can somehow opened enroute to BAL (as BWI was called in those days), but the other 23 cans were popular at our monthly First Class (senior) dinner with the USNA 32nd Company Officer. :cool: 🍺

In and Out Fries are only tolerable when you have the "Extra Well Done" Even then they are pretty naff. I like In and out burgers as they have a healthy dose on onions which I love.
