Just ordered some Ghost Peppers -- Anyone ever try these?
Just ordered the following:
http://www.shop.sonoranspicecompany....z-PODS-200.htm and some of the flakes to try it for kicks. Have some friends who are constantly boasting how much heat they can handle. Has anyone ever tried this? |
Have not tried them but do have a friend who owns a restaurant who planted them in the spring so he can use them in some of his dishes. He says they are quite good, but to use in moderation till you get use to the amount you need.

I've watched Adam Richman on Man Vs. Food eat them and look like he was going to die, I like spice but I think I'd pass on the Ghost Pepper.

Has anyone ever tried this? if you are going to play with them, wear rubber gloves. find a friend (mine are from the indian sub continent) who eat peppers that are insanely hot. have them check to see if they are the real thing. there are natives from africa that also eat pepper that are this hot. i would question that your peppers are in fact bhuts. bhuts are very expensive. seeds are very expensive. i have paid $5 for 10 genuine seeds. if you grow them with other peppers, be careful. peppers will cross hyberdize, with the hottest pepper usually the dominate. sweet green jalopenas can come out seriously nasty. if you would, pm me if you will send me some of the seeds out of your pack. it't probably too late to start them this year, but will try, and will try again next year. the seeds do not start for 30-45-60 days. i have some i started back on the first of feb, and they are just starting to emerge. |
Scoville Heat Units 5,000,000-5,300,000 - Law enforcement grade pepper spray 855,000-1,359,000 - Our Bhut Jolokia Pods Sounds like you could make some Weapons Grade hot wings with those.:D |

I saw your post and thought I'd give them a shot so we bought some on Thursday morning.
OH MY GOSH IS THIS HOT! Had a bunch of people over for company last night and we tried the powder and small slivers of the peppers, one guy even tried eating a whole one on a bet! Ha ha he didn't last too long before he had to spit it out and whine about for 20 minutes! :D Anyways, hottest thing we've ever had by far and I love hot stuff. The taste was pretty good too, I suggest diluting the stuff in ranch or something... that's what we did with the powder. Just be sure to use a fork or something when you play with them, it really does burn your skin!! |
A local restaurant does a hell night a couple times a year. I tried some ghost pepper wings. They were very, very hot. I ended up with a few wings to take home and made ghost pepper wing hash the next day. It was hot and delicious!

I did not buy any seeds...I ended up getting:
6 whole pods dried 1 bottle of powder 1 bottle of flakes Have tasted a very small bit of the powder -- HOLY SMOKES !! Used the flakes in lentil soup and thai chicken soup -- it actually added some very good flavor and heat. Wife has decided to use sparingly in cooking when our store bought chilies just don't seem to provide any heat. |
I don't have the greenest of thumbs, but do try. If I buy a bag of pods, would the seeds within germinate?

Now, in my opinion these are the best TASTING of hot peppers. There are quite a few hot peppers, many get classified as 'ornamental' but these peppers actually have a wonderful flavor. I like the flavor better than jalapenos, and I use jalapeno a whole lot. |
seems like a good way to torture yourself and your friends, i'm going to put in an order as well!
