Stop HR 5034 which will could ban direct to consumer wine shipment

There's a bill floating around congress that may severly restrict the ability of wineries to ship directly to consumers. Mega wineries that use wholesalers to ship to all 50 states won't be affected by it too much, but probably 95% of the wine in my cellar is from places with production of 3,000 to 5,000 cases of wine a year, who couldn't possibly get wine to me via wholesaler and instead ship directly to me.

If you have not heard of HR 5034 introduced on April 15th (full text of bill linked above), and you believe you should be able to get wine from whoever you want and not just through a state wholesaler, please consider letting your representatives know how you feel and ask they vote against this bill.

I couldn't picture my wine cellar without all those wonderful gems from the tiny wineries.

I'd love to hear the justification for this bill.

As long as us wine lovers get the word out! More importantly is that somebody cares enough to send a nasty gram to their state representative. See my earlier post (now on the OMNI/PR) for more information on how to do that.

Sorry, I searched here but not all over for it. Not sure why it would end up in PR, it's clearly an issue applying to wine and not PR, but that's what we have moderators for.
