Cheap, healthy, totally portable
This is specific to my recent experience flying out of West Palm Beach airport (PBI), but I'm sure it could be replicated in any number of locations.
I stopped at a Target that was near to and directly on the route to PBI. I'm pretty sure it was a "Super Target" because it sells groceries. At the deli section there, I found an extensive selection of Archer Farms (Target's own brand) salads. There were salads for any taste--vegetarian, non-vegetarian, green salads, pasta salads, grain salads, tuna salads, egg salads, etc. They all came in small (but not too small), airtight, individual plastic serving containers that were flat and rectangular shaped, perfect for easy packing in your carry-on. Each salad cost between $1.99 and $3.99. Total bargain. There were also pre-made sandwiches of any type you can imagine, also not expensive, so I grabbed one of those. So I had a great, healthy, filling, non-messy meal on my flight, for a fraction of what you'd spend at the airport for the same thing. Check it out. |
Given that this is your first post, I assume you are somewhat affiliated with this company?

Nope, just not getting the connection here... anyone else? |
Regardless of his employer, or the convenience of a SuperTarget nearby an airport, I would be very reluctant to buy any refrigerated, prepared food away from an airport and consume it hours later on a flight after being packed tightly in my carry-on. Plus I am not sure a tub of potato salad would get by an alert TSA screener.
But don't forget a fork. Cheers, Pogopossum |
