Diners Club restarting in Canada?

While this may not be about Diners Club Canada specifically, this is pretty big news for BMO, since the whole point of buying the North American DC franchises was to enlarge their corporate card business. It seems that the Government of Canada will be using BMO Corporate Card products, rather than DC, but all in all, that's a pretty big whale to have lured away from American Express, and I doubt they would've been able to do that had they not acquired the DC franchises first. Interesting to see what happens to the DC brand (at least in Canada) after this.

I was explaining that in the title of this thread:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/diner...r-service.html
The term "Corporate" means that the contacts listed therein work at at BMO's corporate offices. As far as I know they should be equally responsive to an inquiry from a Professional or a Corporate cardholder, but my account has no problems and I have not needed their assistance.

What credit score do I need to get a BMO DC card from Canada?
Thank you!

I know this is a really old thread but seemed to be the most appropriate to post on.
Last week I cancelled my Canadian BMO DIners Mastercard. I've had a Diners Club card for decades, ever since Diners took over Air Canada's proprietary enRoute card (which itself started off as a joint CN/AC credit card for charging train tickets on the CNR and plane tickets on AC). It offered pretty good value and particularly in the pre-elite tier years of flying, the lounge program was very welcome. It was status quo in the Citibank years but after BMO took over, the benefits seemed to vanish: no more medical trip insurance, gone are airline flight delay/lost luggage (except as an add-on), no more Priority Pass though an abbreviated lounge program. It almost lost me when AA vanished as a conversion partner, but returned shortly. But this year, the $120 didn't seem to be worth spending when I have other Mastercards and my RBC Visa converts its points to AA (as well as BA). So I moved my final 10K of points to my AA account and after they posted, I made the call. Thought I might be offered an incentive to stay with them, but the agent was quite disinterested. By comparison, every time I talk with someone at Amex, they are effusive about my being a member and particularly when they see that's been the case since 1972! I suspect BMO would like to dump the card altogether. Good-bye Diners.

Lounge access is provided by Diners Club International, and it is mentioned on the Diners Club Canada home page. Is there a fee per visit or other restriction?

Interest in the Diners card still mystifies me, I must be missing something (unless it's for sentimental reasons, which I completely understand... if someone produced a MasterCard with the original design (white background with the two big circles) I'd apply for it!)

This thread is about Diners Club Canada. While the Diners Club lounge network is offered by Diners Club International, the various card issuers determine the fees for their cardholders. I assume Canada has the same rules as USA-issued cards, because it is the same issuer, but could be different.

Speaking of contactless, I also found out that it was one of the first US cards (that I know of) to include it on the card vs. requiring use of a phone or watch. That particular feature probably won't be special in a few years, though, unless I somehow end up using an unattended terminal that doesn't like it when tapping a card without a PIN.
