Sky Club - LAS

I flew out of LAS last night and was informed by the staff at the CO Prez Club that SkyTeam members will no longer have access as of October 24th.

I believe that with the merger, Delta now has a decent size presence that could support a Sky Club. Has anyone heard of an alternative or of any plans to open a Sky CLub in LAS?

Based on DL finances and all the recent cutbacks in the former WorldClubs I wouldn't hold my breath.

But with the closure of duplicate clubs (EWR, LGA, BOS, SEA, HNL, LAX, ORD, etc.) maybe there will be funds to fill gaps in the post-CO network?

I tend to doubt it. Based on the rent for that club in LAS (pretty expensive) plus limited business traffic (conventions yes, but not a huge O&D base of it) would hamper it.

While I'd love to see lounge access in LAS (and God I love that President's Club...), I don't see it happening anytime soon. I'd say the most pressing priority right now is IND, and I'd say PHX is probably higher on the list as well.

Last time (and my first time) we went to LAS we went to the CO club for a quick bathroom stop on the way to the hotel, and didn't leave for after a few rounds. Nice club. I will miss it, unless I renew my RCC membership.

I'm giving serious consideration to a Priority Pass membership (or getting a CO Presidential Plus MC, which includes a full PC membership) so I can keep access to this club.

I think they will need to take a hard look at the clubs, as there are some big holes where CO filled.

They should totally put in blackjack and craps tables along with slot machines to fund the place. Probably help the bottom line in the long run. They can call it Delta Sky Club Casino.

Airports that will not have a SC post-Oct. 24:
CLE
IAH
DEN
GUM
LAS
PTY
SAT
AUS

DEN is the one that jumps out the most, and I'd say (with IND and PHX) the ones that are most lacking. SAT and AUS are pretty small outstations for Delta, so there's no chance a SC will go there. I tend to think IAH won't get one either - not a huge presence for DL there.

I knew I was forgetting one pretty large DL airport that was lacking a SC...

I'd like to see DL cancel CO's sublease of the former CRC in the Main Terminal A in BOS and turn it back into an SC. CO has to be thinking about moving back to Terminal C to be near *A airlines anyway.

Reopening the main A terminal SC would make life more convenient for those flying out of gates A1-A12.

I would like to see DEN reopen, as well.

There is a thread that we may retain access to some CO clubs until Jan but no specifics at:

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/north...ents-club.html

I tried the skyclub email and got no response. Previous emails asking about any plans to fill in the CO club losses got very non-committal responses. I'm guessing given the economy and DL's bean-counter mentality we will simply lose CO without any replacements. In fact I'm guessing they will probably quietly kill off some SCs like they are doing in IAD now.

Eventually CO will move out of BOS A, probably to "B" be near US Air and AC, their new * partner. There is more room in B US Air side then in C. In C B6 and FL want more space and in E WN wants more space. BOS is filling up.
Or Maybe CO can move to C and FL to B.

FWIW, US is closing their LAS club this coming Sunday. This will leave CO as the only club in T1. The airport operates a First Class only club in T2 for international flights + HA.

If Priority pass hadn't dropped the skyclubs, I'd be jumping for one of their cards. I had one for afew years and loved it.
