Sadly,

ATL-HNL from 744 to A333 :td: Looks like it starts for fall.

Yep the equipment has been change from 744 to A333 aircraft. Unless DL will put revenue back to 744 for next spring 2010.

Not that much sadness there. Same seats in BE on the A330s and 744s, and coach is 100x better on the A330s than the 747s.

Actually, much sadness for me, who had reserved seats in the UD of BE on the 744.

Looks like some upgrade in capacity for international flights out of JFK. I can understand DL wanting to be the major O/D force out of NYC, that's a huge and lucrative market, but I'm worried that DL is going to want to start moving the rest of us who don't live in the NE through that airport. Personally I would much rather fly through DTW or ATL than JFK. I really don't have much flying experience there, but it seems nearly every time I check flight delays JFK has a 1-2 hour ground hold on it. No thanks. Double that because there are only 3 flights daily from CVG to JFK! And this is a "hub" to hub route. And only one is a mainline flight, and that mainline flight gets in after most of the international flights take off.

JFK, well actually all three NYC airports, get hit with ground-stops. Airports closest to JFK are typically penalized moreso than airports that are further away unless there is a major WX problem.

CO does SDF-EWR, US does SDF-LGA, but getting into JFK from this part of the nation becomes an issue -- there are only so many DTW-JFK and CVG-JFK flights and delta.com doesn't like to route such trips via ATL.

JFK has some unique international routes that ATL doesn't have - I don't mind backtracking to ATL for routes that are n/s from there - flights are longer which means more sleep on a TATL redeye (plus more miles).

JFK is also a good O/D airport if your destination is out in Long Island (unless ISP is an option, but DL stopped ISP service) because of the JFK-Air Train and LIRR connection at Jamaica.

I think RobertL has a good idea with the tag-on flights and quick turns. I don't know that it would work in the current economy. As far as hub-hub traffic, there are more options DTW-JFK than CVG-JFK.

However, as CVG gets downsized, even those 3 flights, only one of which is mainline, there is less CVG feed to even fill the acft.

JFK access from the Midwest & Ohio Valley region somewhat of a catch-22, but there has to be a better solution, IMHO. I do know other carriers face the same issue and have few options from the midwest to JFK and what non-stops they do have are primarily west coast (similar to DL).
